Potential new DIY spaces available this year.

It’s been a crazy first 3 years at Dalchenna however we are crashing on with the renovations and overhaul of the business. We have been asked a lot about DIY / part livery in the past however were never in a position to offer it with the space, stables and business set up we inherited.

We have circa 9 acres of adandoned, overgrown and boggy land that we plan to bring back into use this year, clearing works have started with drainage, groundwork’s and fencing to follow. This will open up some options for DIY livery. Currently we only offer full livery, with most liveries living, on average 45mins drive away. So we no travel is no issue for us hardy Argyll folk, it’s just part of life.

As we continue the works, we would be interested to hear from anyone considering buying a new horse or moving their horses and would be interested in DIY livery here at Dalchenna.

Liveries would be able to take advantage of all the farms facilities, Dalchenna is home to Argyll Adventure, which is predominately a seasonal trekking centre and is:

🐴 The only 5 star visit Scotland attraction in the area
🐴 The number one attraction in Inveraray, on trip advisor
🐴 The only covered school in the area
🐴 The only pony club linked centre in the area

And many more..

At Dalchenna, you have the comfort and peace of mind, knowing your horses are stabled at a fully licensed and insured yard, run by knowledgable, kind, caring and qualified owners and staff. The yard holds many accreditions and approvals, with new BHS and ABRS inspections due this year.

We run an ever growing pony club at the weekends for children 6-25, adult pony club for.. the more mature? Rider with plenty tea and cake to follow! And of course good availability for private lessons with our in house, qualified coaches.

We currently have a floodlit covered school and large outdoor school, both due for re surfacing early this year and plans in place to bring a new full size arena, later in the year. We have 10x10 and 12x12 boxes available and all year round turnout.

As per pictures below, we have and are continuing to invest heavily in the farm, bringing many acres of ground left unusable for years back into use. We are blessed with miles and miles of off road hacking surrounded by stunning Argyllshire views, always someone to ride out with and plenty good craic to be had.

We pride ourselves on running a clean, tidy well run yard. We have a friendly, cheery bunch of liveries and operate a zero tolerance approach on drama or bitchiness to ensure everyone enjoys keeping their horses here.

Liviries also benefit from the trekking business as we have the farrier here every week in the summer and every other week in the winter, meaning you shouldn’t ever find yourself stuck, we have 6 monthly visits from the dentist and an excellent working relationship with the vets, where sharing call-outs helps keep costs to a minimum.

More than happy for anyone to pop in for a look around and a chat, in the meantime please let me know by comments below or private message of any interest you have and or share with anyone you know we might be able to help.

Fingers crossed for a great year ahead, look forward to seeing many of you out and about at shows! 🤞

Andy, Annika and everyone at Dalchenna 🐎

Today we witness the funeral of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh: 1921 - 2021

We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of His Royal Highness, an incredibly influential figure in the equestrian world, Prince Philip was a former president of the Pony Club and held many significant roles across the sector throughout his life.

The Pony Club Mounted Games, introduced at HOYS in 1957, was developed by Prince Philip designed for ‘ordinary children on ordinary ponies.’ Throughout the years many riders have hotly contested 'The Prince Philip Cup', presented on Sunday evening at Horse of the Year Show.

We will be forever grateful to Prince Philip for the competition, show visits and the wonderful memories that so many cherish.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Her Majesty The Queen, the Royal Family and all those around the world mourning the loss of His Royal Highness.

The Royal family has a long connection to Pony Club. The Queen and Prince Philip's children were Pony Club members; Princess Anne, who went on to represent the UK in Eventing at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, achieved her PC B.
During his time as a PC dad, Prince Philip observed that many children had invested great time and care into the training of their ponies. In many cases, these ponies were not 'fancy' and consequently would have a harder time at a show picking up decent ribbons, in spite of their great training and obedience.
This observation was the seed which started The Prince Philip Games, a competition that would reward the training and obedience of these ponies, and the skill and athleticism of the riders, regardless of a pony's price tag.

Many of Prince Philip's grandchildren have also been PC members, including Princess Anne's daughter Zara Phillips, who herself went on to represent the UK in the 2012 London Olympics.

So as we reflect on the extraordinary life of this remarkable man, and pay thanks for his devoted life of service, influence and charitable causes, we are also reminded that he was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was also once a pony club dad. It’s lovely to see a nod to his strong equestrian links with The Duke's two beloved Fell ponies, Balmoral Nevis and Notlaw Storm taking part in the ceremony today.

From everyone at Dalchenna, Thank you, Sir.
Rest in Peace.

Great to see the entrance to the farm beginning to come together, improving the over all look of the place and coming closer to the high standards we keep on the yard.

Another busy driveway today! Boys are working hard renovating the old farmhouse which has sadly stood empty for 14+ years and had become a bit of an eyesore! Not for long!!
