Our vet, Angus, is out of action today to have a minor surgery.

Morning consultations will be as normal, with the lovely locum Kim in the practice.

Highland Vet Emergencies, have very kindly offered to provide emergency out of hours care over the weekend for our clients.

If you require emergency care for your pet please phone the practice as usual and Nadine will help you arrange appropriate treatment.

Millburn Road has reopened and the practice is running as usual 👍

MAJOR INCIDENT UPDATE‼️

The major incident has now ended and emergency services have stood down in the city centre. So all routes will again be open and the public allowed to return to premises and vehicles.

If you have been down to the practice lately, you've likely already noticed lots of noise, dust and stacks of building supplies next door to the current waiting room.

Given the age of our building, it has been a real process to get to this point, but we are excited to see the amazing progress on what will be our brand new reception and waiting room as we restore this wonderful stone building to its former glory.

We're looking forward to a brilliant 2024 as the practice enters its centenary year as an independent veterinary practice.

Where has the year gone?! Christmas is almost upon us again, and from next weekend we will not be rehoming until after the New Year, so any cats with us will be having an extended stay.
As in previous years we are appealing for a small donation of cat food for the cats who find themselves in our care at Christmastime and beyond.
Donations can be dropped off to us at 37 Creag Dhubh Terrace, (we have a donations bin by the door), or at our vets MacLellan Vets Eastgate

Ordering repeat medication

Repeat medication can be requested online:
https://www.maclellanvets.com/prescriptions

When ordering medication, we ask you to allow 24-48 hours for all prescription requests to be authorised and prepared. We may not have the requested medication in stock and may need to order it from our suppliers.

This may take longer if placed over the weekend, so allow plenty of time to avoid running out .

If we require further information or if your pet is due for a check up, we will get in contact with you.

We will contact you by phone or email you once the medication is ready to be collected.

Medication can be collected between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday or between 9am-11am on Saturday.

*New clients*

Following a number of enquiries regarding the acceptance of new clients, here is an update: 😊

As you may be aware, we closed our books to new registrations earlier this year, in order to manage wait times and keep things running a little quieter whilst we awaited the arrival of the newest MacLellan girl in April and made a few repairs to the premises.
We added a wait-list to our website so that anyone interested in joining us once we reopened our books could express their wish to do so.

We had an overwhelming response to this, and I am pleased to say we have now begun contacting people from the list to offer them the opportunity to apply to register as a new client.
Over the coming weeks we will contact everyone in the order in which they registered their interest with us, so keep an eye out for an email from MacLellan Vets, including your spam folder.
If you no longer wish to register or have made other arrangements if let us know via a quick email reply, or we don’t hear back from you then we will remove your details from the waitlist. 😊

** NEW AFTERNOON OPEN CONSULTATION SESSION ADDED**⌚️🐶🐱🐹

We have taken the decision to add in a new, additional open consultation session between 3pm & 4pm Monday – Friday, to begin Monday 21st August

Saturday consulting hours will remain between 9am & 10am only.
As with the morning consultation session, this will be a drop-in session, if you arrive between 3pm & 4pm you will be seen by the vet in the order in which you arrived.

What does this mean for our clients?

This means if you require a vet consultation between Monday and Friday you now have the option of the AM (9-10am) or PM (3-4pm) drop-in session each day.
We hope this will be more convenient for those clients for whom the mornings are not always suitable, and it should serve to moderate the queuing times by adding in the additional session, and help reduce the need for a more costly emergency out of hours appointments.

If you arrive outside the specified consultations hours, you will be asked to return at the next session.

As always if your pet has a medical emergency, please do not hesitate to call the practice and we will advise you of the appropriate time to be seen.

Whichever consultation session you arrive at, please head to reception to sign in, this allows us to retrieve your details ahead of your consultation with the vet and ensure you are seen in the correct order. 🙂

** CHANGE OF PROCEDURE TO MORNING CONSULTATION SESSION **

If you have visited us recently you may have noticed a few changes to the layout of the existing consultation room and reception area, we have made a few alterations in an effort to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency.

Upon arrival to the consultation morning, we now kindly ask you to sign in at reception before heading to the waiting room.

We will take a few details including the reason for your visit, and you will be added to the list. This will allow for our consultations to run more smoothly and hopefully get you seen sooner. Our consultations will run as normal, from 9am to 10am on a first come, first served basis.

Our doors will open at 8.30am Monday – Saturday for the admission of in-patients and for anyone wishing to sign in for the morning consultation session starting at 9am.

If you are collecting a prescription or need to weigh your pet for flea, tick or worm prevention, then we kindly ask that you plan to come between 10am-5pm, to avoid our busy consultation hour.

Did you know you can order prescriptions via our website? This means we can approve your request with the vet, and inform you when it is ready for collection.

One year today! 🥳
**2023 Update**

Just like that it’s one year since we put the ‘MacLellan’ into ‘MacLellan Vets Eastgate!’
The practice turns 99 this year, and we are so happy to be part of the latest chapter in its’ long history.
And what a year it has been, a heap of new and familiar furry faces for Angus to see.
Our little team has grown with the fantastic addition of Jen, who thankfully agreed to join us on day one. Before Christmas we added two new faces to the team, I’m sure many of you will have noticed the lovely Brody & Ellie.
And of course, the brilliant Nadine, who enters into her 8th year this summer & with whom we share this Birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY NADINE. 🥳
We have a heap of exciting improvements afoot this year, and so 2023 is set to be a great one, watch this space for updates! 😁

We have taken the decision to close our books to new clients for the time being. Existing clients adding new furry companions can still get in touch, however in order to ensure we can continue to be ready to help our existing clients whenever they need, we are not currently accepting brand new registrations, particularly during this time as we patiently wait the arrival of the latest mini MacLellan.

Thank you so much to our wonderful clients for supporting our family business & trusting us with the care of your beloved pets.

🐱🎄 INVERNESS CAT RESCUE CHRISTMAS CAT FOOD APPEAL 2022 🎄🐱

Inverness Cat Rescue is a completely voluntary organisation run by Heather & Derik, they work tirelessly to help cats in need and rely on the generosity of cat lovers to enable them to continue this amazing work.

Many of our clients will know Heather very well from her long connection to the practice or may well have adopted their feline family members from Inverness Cat Rescue 🐈

As rehoming pauses over the festive period, any cats in Heather & Deriks’s care will stay with them until after New Year.

If you would like to help, donations of cat food would be gratefully received and are can be dropped off at the MacLellan Vets Eastgate collection point, located in the waiting room. Alternatively cash donations can be donated in the collection box.

Remember, doggy costumes can be a bit of harmless fun, as long as they don't mind, are used to wearing coats, the costume fits correctly and and they are supervised. 🐶🎃

Most importantly keep the human treats out of reach, especially chocolate.🍫🍭

If your furry pals are terrified by the ghoulish trick or treaters, set them up a nice safe space away from the front door or don't be afraid to leave a sign and a stash of treats outside requesting visitors to avoid knocking :)

The successful candidate must have a passion for providing a high level of care to our patients and clients, and ideally have relevant experience/qualifications.
Working for a growing, independent, family-owned vet practice, means you can be sure the animals are at the centre of everything we do. It also means the work is fast paced and challenging, but interesting, varied and rewarding.
