Had Archie in the salon this week for his regular grooming appointment which his owner has added on teeth cleaning to every groom to maintain his pearly whites 🦷

Plaque build up not only causes bad breath but gum disease, which can become really painful effecting a dogs jaw & skull structure. The bacteria from plaque can travel around the body leading to kidney, liver & heart problems as well!

By adding teeth cleaning for only £10 extra on to every groom (after the 1st session which is £50), you can ensure you're doing the best you can for your pup to have a healthy happy life 💜

Please please please don't take your dogs out at the hottest parts of the day!! Early mornings & late evenings are best 💜

To my human moms & dads, this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavement is so hot !

Remember I sweat through my paws, so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down🐾

If you see someone walking their dog on hot pavement, ask them to take off their shoes for the remainder of their walk home. Maybe then they'll understand.

Barney was such a good boy, his owners are so shocked because he doesn't let them anywhere near his teeth at home! He'll continue to have follow up appointments with every groom to keep those pearly whites 🦷🪥

Have you got your orozyme gel?? 🦷🪥

This gel is perfect to use leading up to your doggos 1st teeth cleaning session as it helps loosen & break down the plaque making it easier to remove. BUT it is amazing to use inbetween teeth cleaning appointments to prevent plaque!!

It's also really good for those doggos that can't tolerate teeth cleaning, as you use your finger to apply & just rub it over all their gums and teeth.... It's that simple 🙏

It works wonders and it only £15 💜

Today was Toby's last full groom with me 💔

It was a heartbreaking decision to make but these could be his final few months so the best thing for him is to reduce as much stress as possible😢 it has been a pleasure to groom him, such a sweet boy ❤️

Have you recently got a puppy or thinking about getting one? It is an exciting time to be expanding your little family BUT there is a few things that you need to think about!

- Make sure you've booked in or been added to a groomers waiting list, either before you get your pup or the minute you do (as waiting lists can be months)! Choose someone that you feel is right for you & your doggo with the right experience/qualifications... NOT because they're 'cheap'.

- Ask your groomer about salon & puppy introductions, these need to be started at 12 weeks old. If started early & regular, your pup will have a more positive experience. Even if the breed of dog you get (e.g. lab, staffy, dachshund, greyhound) doesn't require regular grooming it is beneficial to get them use to the environment.

- Have you researched everything you possibly can about this breed? Not only the grooming they require, temprement, behaviour issues, dietary requirements, health problems, cost of vet bills, insurance... the list is endless BUT so many people quickly get a dog without realising what they're taking on.

- Do you have enough time? Daily life can be hectic so do you have the time to take them on daily walks, puppy classes, grooming appointments, vet trips, spending quality time with your pup? It sounds silly but so many dogs are in rescue places due to owners not having enough time and then behaviour issues arising.

- Money. Which with the cost of living crisis is hard but have you thought about all the hidden expenses and potentially unpredictable ones? Like vet bills for medication, vaccinations and surgeries. Training classes, dog walkers, kennel bills. Grooming appointments cost on average £45 so this 8x a year is £360. That isn't including anything else.

- Do you go on holiday a lot? If so, you need to be introducing your pup to a dog sitters or kennels when they're young to prevent anxious/aggressive behaviours.

- AND socialise your pup! Anyone that works in the animal industry will know we see hundreds of dogs with anxiety/separation problems because dogs aren't introduced to people, places and other dogs!

⚠️ GRASS SEED SEASON ⚠️

Found the first (of many to come) grass seeds today! It was hidden so tightly in this guys paw pad it could have easily been missed before all the furr was clipped away.

And then the second picture is the result of what a grass seed can do if it penetrates the skin!

👉 Make sure after each dog walk to check your dogs paw pads, between their toes, ears, around their eyes, tails & armpits! ESPECIALLY ON THOSE DOODLE BREEDS 👈

If you're concerned about your dog getting grass seeds due to where they walk i.e the beach/fields, we can change their groom for the summer so just ask at your next appointment 💜

💜 SUMMER CUTS 💜

As the weather gets warmer it's the time for those summer cuts to keep your doggos cooler & more comfortable whilst still looking super stylish! Getting a shorter cut doesn't always mean "to the skin" as you can see Alfie has a relatively short cut.

Having everything that little bit shorter doesn't just help your doggo cool themselves down quicker... it also helps prevent grass seeds, finding grass seeds, fleas & ticks easier!

Reminder: an additional fee is added to grooms if fleas are found as extra time is needed to re-wash the dog in flea shampoo, to clean the salon after the groom & other appointments may need to be pushed back.
