🚨 Cat Flu: Know the Signs! 🚨

Cat flu is a common illness that can affect cats of all ages, but kittens, older cats, or those with weaker immune systems are most at risk. 🐾

Symptoms to look out for:
🐱 Sneezing and nasal discharge
🐱 Runny eyes or conjunctivitis
🐱 Loss of appetite
🐱 Lethargy or fever

If your cat shows any of these signs, it’s important to act quickly. Cat flu can be serious if left untreated! Speak to your vet for advice and care.

💡 Prevention tip: Vaccinations can help protect your cat from cat flu. Make sure their vaccinations are up to date!

🎆🐾 Keep your pets safe this New Year’s Eve! Fireworks can be stressful and even dangerous for our furry friends. Here’s how to help:

• Keep pets indoors to prevent them from running off in fear.
• Cats need to be locked indoors before dark.
• Create a safe space with their favourite bed and toys.
• Close windows and curtains to reduce noise and flashing lights.
• Avoid leaving them alone during peak fireworks times.
• Make sure Microchip contact details are up-to-date, just in case they get spooked and run off.

❄️ Why You Shouldn’t Leave Your Dog in the Car This Winter ❄️

🚗 Risk of Hypothermia: Temperatures in parked cars drop fast, putting your dog at risk of life-threatening cold.

❄️ Frostbite Danger: Ears, paws, and tails are especially vulnerable to freezing conditions.

💔 Emotional Stress: Cold, unfamiliar environments can cause anxiety for your pet.

🌨️ Unpredictable Weather: A mild day can quickly turn freezing, creating dangerous conditions.

Your dog’s safety and comfort should always come first—never leave them unattended in a car during winter! 🐾

Is someone sheltering under your car? 🐱❄️

Cats often seek warmth under car bonnets or near engines in winter. Here’s how you can help keep them safe:

Where to Check:
• Under the bonnet: Cats may crawl into engine compartments for warmth.
• Wheel Wells: Cats might snuggle near tyres for shelter.
• Underneath the Car: Look beneath the car as they can hide close to the engine.
Dangers:
• Engine Injuries: Starting the car can harm or kill a cat hiding around the engine area.
• Crushing Hazards: Cats sleeping near or behind tyres can be run over.
• Cold Shock: If startled, cats may stay hidden in dangerous spots or dash into traffic.
Advice:
• Tap the bonnet: Knock or bang on the bonnet before starting your car.
• Inspect Your Car: Check under the car and around the wheels visually.
• Honk the Horn: Briefly honk to give hiding cats a chance to escape.
• Warm Parking Options: Use a garage when possible.
• Spread Awareness: Encourage other drivers to check their vehicles during winter months.

A few extra seconds can save a life! Help spread the word to protect our feline friends this winter. 🐾🚗

❄️Antifreeze Safety❄️

As the temperature drops, be mindful of the hidden dangers lurking in your garage or driveway. Antifreeze (ethylene glycol) is highly toxic to pets—even a small amount can be deadly.

🐕 Why it’s dangerous:
Antifreeze has a sweet taste that attracts pets, but it can cause kidney failure within hours of ingestion.

🔒 How to protect your pets:
• Store antifreeze securely and out of reach.
• Clean up any spills immediately.
• Consider using pet-safe antifreeze (propylene glycol-based).

⏰ Act fast: If you suspect your pet has ingested antifreeze, contact your vet or an emergency clinic immediately.

We provide 24-hour emergency care with our dedicated on-site team. Our duty staff monitor inpatients day and night, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing with regular check-ins.

Keep your furry friends safe this winter!

De-icers and grit can be harmful to pets' paws and health. After walks, check and rinse their paws to remove any residue. If ingested, de-icing chemicals can cause stomach upset or more serious issues. Always store these products safely out of reach.

🎄🐾 Christmas Treats to Avoid for Your Pets! 🐾🎄

This festive season, let’s keep our furry friends safe and sound! ❤️ While we indulge in Christmas goodies, remember that some treats can be dangerous—or even toxic—for pets.

🚫 Chocolate, raisins and sugar-free snacks with artificial sweeteners 🍫
🚫 Cooked bones and fatty foods 🥩
🚫 Christmas dishes with onions, garlic, or nutmeg 🧅
🚫 Alcohol and unbaked yeast dough 🍷

Keep human food out of paws’ reach and remind guests not to sneak scraps under the table.

Let’s make this a season of joy, not vet visits!
