Happy Monday morning folks, may your week ahead be a good one.
Little ex foster crew mate Lilah is keeping Mandy and Rob on their toes! No quiet retirement with this little terrierist around!
Nite nite folks on the last night of 2024. We have an amber warning on the wind but we dont care. This is because I have a cabin full of four traumatised dogs due to the indiscriminate use of fireworks by the general public in our area. But I have learned that the human species as a whole, don't care about anyone or anything as long as they get what they want in the here and now. It's sad, but I hold onto the hope that things will get better, that the world will get a wake up call and action will be taken to protect our planet and all who depend on her in 2025.
There have been reports of another swan with a wing injury at Fox's Marina. We were on our way home after a muddy pack walk and I swung in for a quick check. She wasn't there but we will be back.
As a result of last week's rescues, we now have 4 lovely people who are swan spotting for us. Thank you Paul, Deborah, Wendy and Steve for your help and welcome to the crew!
Christmas on Barge Yaffle.
Our take on the nativity scene. And yes Ember looks like she has either given birth or sat on a pine cone!π
Out on our walk and we have exciting news!
Teatime on barge Yaffle is an organised affair. Harley has a puzzle bowl to slow him down and he is kept behind a gate, because like any good pirate he would help himself to everyone else's ships rations if he was given the chance!
We finally got time to open our Amazon Wish list parcels. Thank you to Harleys guardian angels, for purchasing these for him, and for the donated money, which will go towards his pain medication. We are blessed to have you as crew mates.
Looks like I will be missing my tea too. It appears swans in trouble come in two's!
Update 3: The swan has been rescued. Thank you Ryan.
Update 2: I have spoken to someone who knows the person with the yard key. Messages are being sent, and hopefully I will have access to the swan tomorrow morning.
Update 1: The number is for a phone inside the building because I can hear it. I've contacted the lock keeper at Haven Marina who says other folks have called him in the hope there is an emergency number for the sea cadets. There isnt...isnt that weird? I've given permission for my number to be shared, so I'm sat here waiting for a call.
If nothing happens tonight, I will try to borrow two ladders and go down there and go over the fence in the morning. Failing that I will walk into the local fire station and ask for help. If anyone has any other ideas please feel free to suggest.
We have Huxlee onboard, so today we are at the tennis courts for a run around.
