APBC page for vets & VNs A page designed to provide behavioural support and information for vets, vet nurses and other veterinary staff working in small animal and equine practice.

APBC members are able to offer the time and expertise necessary to investigate the causes of unwanted behaviour in companion animals, and outline practical treatment plans that are suitable for their clients' circumstances. The APBC also runs seminars and workshops for its members, veterinarians, and members of the public interested in the field of behaviour therapy.

The APBC's next in-person behaviour conference is scheduled for the 20th & 21st June 2026 titled, “Pets and the City”.

The 35th Anniversary conference in 2024 was a roaring success with many delegates saying, it was ‘the best conference I have been to in a long time’ and, the 2026 conference promises to be even bigger and better.

Join us and Adam Skandarani on 8th May!

This will be a presentation on the human side of things and managing the human end of the leash. We are always talking about what our DOGS need, and never about what WE need. Adam will be discussing everything from how to handle a situation where a caretaker (including oneself) has an excuse for everything to making big plans and how to stick to them, with a detour somewhere around burnout to discuss how to combat it.

Tonight at 8pm!

Rachel will demonstrate how trailing techniques provide more than just recreation; they give dogs a sense of purpose, improve their adaptability, and reduce behavioural issues stemming from frustration or under-stimulation. Through real-world examples Rachel will show how urban pet guardians can utilise these activities to meet their dogs’ innate needs, turning potential urban dystopias into enriched, harmonious environments for pets and their owners alike.

Don't worry if you can't join us live; sign-up and you'll be sent a replay to watch this webinar at your own convenience.
