WE CANT KEEP PUSHING.....WITHOUT YOU!

For years, Mossgiel has been more than just a farm – it’s been a battle to build something sustainable and honest in an industry that doesn’t make it easy. We’ve faced setback after setback, but every time, we’ve found a way forward. And now, with only 10 days left to reach our true goal of £300,000, we’re calling on everyone who believes in what we’re doing to help us cross the finish line.

Back in 2015, the dairy industry was facing rock-bottom prices, and we were staring down bankruptcy. But instead of giving in, we took a different path, choosing to go fully organic and build something better. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, and there were nights it felt impossible, but it was the right choice for Mossgiel, and we committed to making it work.

In 2018, we joined forces with the co-operative to help keep independent farms like ours thriving. This partnership allowed us to brew milk not only from our own Mossgiel Girls but also from other organic farms that share our commitment to natural, sustainable dairy. To this day, we proudly work alongside the co-op, supporting a network of farmers who believe in doing dairy right.

When expansion became crucial, we found ourselves in need of funds with nowhere to turn. Rather than waiting around, we got resourceful – we built a dairy from old lorry bodies, piecing everything together ourselves to make Mossgiel milk more accessible to all of you.

Then, in 2019, when we couldn’t afford new brewing tanks, we found a way to adapt, crafting them out of old milk coolers to keep going.

Going plastic-free was another turning point. We were determined to eliminate single-use plastics from our farm, but no one wanted to back the idea financially. So we turned to you – our supporters – and thanks to your help, we’ve now saved nearly 26 million pieces of plastic.

Today, we’re ready to take Mossgiel even further with a dairy and milk brewery like no other, but to make it a reality, we need to reach £300,000. Thanks to everyone who has pledged and invested, we’ve hit the initial target of £100,000, but to secure the new dairy and reach our full potential, we need everyone who can to stand with us now.

Together, we’ve taken what seemed impossible and made it possible. We’re proud to be here – fighting for a future where farms are valued, our planet is protected, and dairy is sustainable. With just 10 days left, we’re calling on you to help us meet this goal. Whether it’s through an investment or simply sharing our story, every bit of support counts.

Raw garlic is used by the natural veterinary community for its antimicrobial, antiseptic, antibiotic and yes, antihelminthis properties.

Fresh raw garlic has been effectively used as a deworming agent in pigs (Lans et al. 2007, Bartha et al. 2015), ruminants (Lans et al. 2007, Bullitta et al. 2018) and cats (Ronagh et al. 2015)

Bastidas (1969) treated a hookworm infestation in a meat-fed dog with raw garlic and tracked the mean daily larvae count (baby worms). Image attached. the graph You can see it plummets consistently to Day 10. Then they stop the treatment, and the larvae count goes straight back up again.

Interestingly, they found garlic to be more effective on baby worms than adult worms. So if you have a worm infection, it might not be the garlic you'd be relying on!

In another study in dogs, Andrei et al. (2011) noted a 90% reduction in larvae count per gram of faeces for all 6 worm species (including various roundworms, hookworms and whipworms) following a twice-daily, weight-dependent dose of their natural deworming concoction, which included a variety of popular anthelminthic herbs, garlic and pumpkin seed oil.

STEP ONE - REBRAND RABBIE!

Over the next 4 weeks, you're going to be part of the biggest leap forward Mossgiel has known.
We're calling out BIG DAIRY, taking our fight to the next level and beating a new path for small scale farming.

To do this, we need to begin with a new brand; one that wasn't made on a Word document because we needed 'something' - we needed a face that's ours, that shows we're serious about our mission and a bold statement to the world that we're ready to tackle the challenge head on!

It's been a HUGE task for something that seems so trivial - should we keep Rabbie? What colours work best? Should our hard-to-say-name stay?

In the end, it was an easy decision - the ploughman poet wasn't just a famous guy that wrote poems and lived on the same land we do today. He was a legend, Scotland's most famous son - he called out inequality and was in awe at the ebbs and flows of nature; a perfect ambassador for our mission who had to stay!

Our name was in question, too. 'Mossgiel Farm' - we don't stand as a single farm, instead we collaborate with others to support small scale, organic dairy. Prioritising the farming families behind SouthWest Scotland's organic milk - we'll be launching other products too, so it was time we upgraded to our true definition; a dairy of change.
