I get asked alot about collar's and harnesses for dogs. With our beautiful dogs' safety being paramount, it is important to get this right. So thought I'd just write my recommendations for all to see.

As you know (or you should know) it is UK law that your dog should wear an ID tag when they are out and about, it is best to put this on a collar, that way if they slip their harness then they will have your contact details around their neck. I also recommend that when leaving your dogs for any length of time and also on an evening for bed, you take their collar off. This helps to stop the hair matting around the neck and behind ears, plus it illiminates any potential accidents caused by the collar getting snagged or caught on their nails, etc.

With a harness, try getting a good fitted Harness. Something that doesn't rub under their arm pits or on the female dogs the ni***es. When you try it on at the pet shop, give it a little tug from the top hook to see if it would easily come off over the head. Alot of harnesses come off so easy, which is scary. You can also get a strap that'll simply and safely clip the harness onto the collar, which means if they slip their harness, you still have your dog safely and security attached.

With dog tags I've gone through loads with bonnie where the ring has snapped and I've lost it so 2 years ago I bought one that slips through her collar and to this day still looks brand new.
