❌ RAPESEED! ❌

It’s that time of year again where farmers fields have blossomed into pretty yellow flowers, these plants are called rapeseed. Although it may be tempting to place your dog in the mist to take a scenic photo, please avoid this at all costs!

Rapeseed is extremely poisonous for dogs, especially in highly sensitive canines.

Rapeseed is listed by Dogs Trust as toxic to our dogs if ingested and can cause symptoms such as:

❌ Hemolytic Anemia
❌ Blindness
❌ Damaged Nervous System
❌ Digestive Disorders
❌ Breathing Problems

Even walking through these fields should be avoided! In June 2019, a dog has been reported to suffer from severe open wounds after running through a crop of rapeseed.

Please seek immediate veterinary attention if your dog shows any signs of rapeseed poisoning.

URGENT… PLEASE TAKE CARE
This morning at 9.30am on Castle Hill Park, between Beaumont Leys and Anstey Leicester a serious attack took place by thieves attempting to steal dogs.
A man and a woman, so you would think ok?
One of our volunteers partners was walking their 4 little terriers (all EMDR dogs) when he was attacked with a machete, sustaining severe injuries to his arm, two broken fingers, hit over the head, kicked and punched. He is now awaiting surgery.
Miraculously he held onto the dogs, who at this point were covered in their owners blood.
A similar situation was reported by a lone female dog Walker a couple of weeks ago who managed to get help from a nearby house.
Police obviously aware but members of the public please be vigilant.
Dog thieves are prepared to attack to get what they want

I do know Outwoods, Loughborough have a viral infection for dogs spreading fast. And I've been told Albama rot it around too. Avian Flu is on the spread again. So please wash your paws and boots regularly.

Extremely high winds forecast with Storm Isha. What does that mean for us as dog owners? Well, it means that there is a greater chance of our dogs getting loose and lost.

💨 Risk of winds blowing down fences or blowing open gates.
✔️Step out into the garden to check that it’s secure before letting your dog out.

💨 Risk of things blowing over, noises, dogs being spooked and running off on walks.
✔️ Make sure microchip and tags are up to date incase the worst happens.

💨 Dogs can’t use their sense of smell so keenly, which means they are at a disadvantage when out and about, and can lose their way back to you.
✔️ Keep dogs on lead during their walk, even if familiar.

I have some availability at present for a Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Should you require a solo dog walk and/or a pop in..

After the impact of the XL bully's certification law. I am unable to walk, pet sit, pop in. This is due to my insurance not covering them anymore. Sorry for this inconvenience..

And I can highly recommend Drone To Home for finding your lost pooches should this ever be the case..

Grit truck salt, pavement salt even dishwasher salt (I've seen people use) on paths can burn the dogs pads/paws so please wash their paws after the walk.... 🥶 😊
