Have you ever thought about fostering a dog in need?

🏠Fostering a dog isn't just about providing food and shelter. It's about offering a special dog a second chance. Sometimes that's a chance to heal, to trust, or to feel what it’s like to be loved.

🐕The dogs waiting for foster homes come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Some are energetic and playful, others quiet and shy. But what they all have in common is their desperate need for someone to care.

We are in urgent need of more foster homes. Without the foster placements available we simply cannot rescue any more dogs. Right now it feels like we're at a standstill, with so many dogs waiting for our help, but they have literally nowhere to go 😔

You can find out more about fostering on our website - https://www.aireworthdogsinneed.co.uk/fostering/

If you feel now is the right time for you to look into fostering please send us an email to [email protected]

We introduced you to Max & Jessie, the Chihuahuas x Poodles last week. Well, Jessie's foster family had fallen in love with her. So we are very pleased to announce that Jessie has now officially been adopted.

Jessie persevered and won Teddy round and he now looks out for his little sister on walks!

With regular routine and exercise Jessie nailed the house training within days and from too scared to go on walks - now loves them! Though she does like to be carried when it's too cold 🥶.

Thank you to Mike, Gereana, Jacob, Martha, Charlie and lastly, but no means least, Teddy for opening your hearts and home to little Jessica 🩷.

🐾🧡Lexi - Available to adopt🧡🐾

7 year old Chihuahua x French bulldog

Say hello to this little cutie and you are immediately a friend 🥰. A few minutes into meeting her she'd let us tickle her tummy, check her teeth, her ears and her paws and all she did was wag her tail.

Her life is in a bit of upheaval at the moment as her mum of almost seven years has had to give her up, so quite rightly Lexi looks a little nervous.
However spend a few minutes giving her some TLC and she quickly become your best friend!!

🐾She is friendly with everyone and everything.
🐾Good in cars and on the bus.
🐾Fully house trained and currently living with a cat with no issues.
🐾She does look a little bit underweight at the moment but we have been told she has always had an athletic look with no reported health problems.
🐾She will sneak under the quilt if you are not watching.
🧡Ideal companion and best friend!

Please send us an email to [email protected] if you are interested in adopting Lexi

✨We're excited to now properly introduce Mercy, an 18 month old husky! Available to foster/adopt ✨

Wow, dogs are amazing! Given the way they are treated at times and how they respond with love and forgiveness.

🐾We rescued Mercy a few days ago who through no fault of her own, was living in a makeshift kennel in filthy conditions. Her young owner did not have the resources or skills to look after her properly. On top of this he and his family were evicted and the emergency accommodation refused pets.

✅We took her into emergency kennels and within 2 days received glowing reports about her behaviour.
" She's superb, non reactive to other dogs, polite with meets, good on a lead, polite with treats, clean in her kennel."

🩺So this week she is having her vaccinations and being groomed.

🐾🐾In the meantime we need to find her a forever home.🐾🐾

🧡Are you able to show her the life she deserves? She is still young but we don't think she will get much bigger. Huskies are well known for needing exercise and careful training but Mercy is not showing those traits at the moment being very calm and relaxed in kennels.

🧡As Mercy is currently in a placement some distance away, it would be ideal if we could find her a foster home within our catchment area. You could foster her with a view to adopting.

Please send us an email to [email protected] if you're interested in Mercy.

A little update and a happy ending ❤️

A few months ago, we were alerted to a young dog living outside in a garden that backed on to the canal in Riddlesden. We visited and offered advice. The RSPCA had also been notified and visited and offered advice. A new kennel was constructed and the owners initially took her to the groomers and walked her. Sadly, this didn't last for very long and she was back to being kept on a short chain in the back yard.

Despite numerous attempts and offers of assistance and advice, all were rejected. Neighbours were becoming increasingly frustrated, concerned and worried. Posts were going up on Facebook left, right and centre with people quite upset about the dog's plight.

Numerous members of the public offered to buy her. All were refused, until one night an offer was accepted and she went off with the new kind hearted owners. Sadly, the resident dogs in the new home were NOT impressed at this new dog with zero manners. She very nearly got passed on again to another kind hearted family, but again her ill manners did not go down very well the resident dogs. We were then approached for our help.

Nala spent a few weeks in kennels where she was assessed and had a little bit of TLC. She was collar shy, which suggests some rough handling in her past. She put on some weight, she started work on her lead walking skills.

A couple of weeks before Christmas a young couple went to meet Nala. They fell in love with her. They were not remotely put off by her lack of house training - and were up for the challenge.

All the hard work is paying off. Nala is flourishing. She is adored by Elle & Gary, who signed her official adoption paperwork yesterday.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Nala's journey to a life where she is cherished, loved and part of a family. I think she approves, don't you?

Hi I am the long term foster co-ordinator for the charity....Did you know that we have a sponsorship scheme for our long term foster pooches?
In addition to rescuing, fostering and rehoming dogs, we also support long term fosterers to look after those of our dogs who may otherwise be difficult to re home, due to them having medical needs or being quite elderly. This ensures they find loving homes for the rest of their lives without the worry of ever increasing vet bills and long term medication costs
We currently support 21 long term foster dogs and by sponsoring them for £50 a year of £5.00 a month, you can really help us to continue this vital service.
For details of our long term foster pooches and details of how to apply to sponsor them -do check out our website www.aireworthdogsinneed.co.uk , click on "our dogs" then "sponsor a dog" for more details. Sponsorship would also make a great gift for that dog loving friend who has everything. You will receive a small welcome pack and updates on how our dogs are getting on as a thankyou
One example of our long term foster dogs is little Tannie...his owner sadly passed away and as Tannie is 13 1/2 years old and has quite severe heart problems -he is on many tablets daily and needs vet reviews regularly too, all of which is quite costly, but we have committed to cover these costs for as long as he has a good quality of life.

Aireworth Dogs in Need is a foster based rescue covering the area in and around Keighley, West Yorkshire.

SAFE!

We were alerted an emergency situation a couple of days ago. A family were being evicted this weekend. Their dog had nowhere to go 😔. Her situation was dire and chaotic.

She was assessed yesterday in the hope that we could find a foster home. We struggled at such short notice but today she is safe and warm thanks to the hard work and dedication to one of our new dog liaison officers, Jim (who also does home checking) who assessed her, collected today and transported her to kennels an hour away!

Please welcome Mercy to ADIN. Who will be getting a much needed bath, a full tummy, a warm kennel and starting her vaccinations.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Mercy or anyone of our dogs - or any in the future please get in contact and email [email protected] click on the link https://www.aireworthdogsinneed.co.uk/adopting-a-dog/

Beau is still looking for her new family 🩷

New girl on the block! Or should i say Queen 👑

Beau is a 5 yr old diva who has stipulated her demands as cuddles, treats, cuddles, sleeping, cuddles and, did i mention....cuddles!

Beau is needing a new home due to her owner returning to education and upcoming work placements mean that Beau will be left alone for very long periods.

Beau is a very friendly girl who loves cuddles and sleeping. She would be best suited to a home with older children (over 10 years) as she can be quite giddy and jump up.

She's house trained and ok to be left a few hours.

She would probably be best suited to being the only dog in the home as she does demand ALL of the attention. She's fine meeting dogs out and about.

She may be ok with dog savvy cats as she normally doesn't react to them.

Please email [email protected] if you are interested to request a home check if you have not yet had one.

We would like to introduce Jessie & Max. Diddy little brother and sister (from separate litters) Chihuahua x Poodles.

** WE ARE NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS YET **

They came in shortly before Christmas due to a relationship breakdown.

We made the decision to separate them, partly due to neither of them being neutered and partly due to feeling they may settle better.

Max was an extremely anxious, vocal uptight little boy. We were extremely concerned about his behaviour but the turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous! He is flourishing, rarely barks and is loving life! He's also persuaded the resident cat that he is quite good at snuggling up.

Jessie was barely house trained but a very sweet and giddy little girl. She wasn't walked and barely got any attention ay all due to Max's behaviour. She has settled in with her foster family amazingly well. She's now house trained, enjoying walks and has a new doggy pal to cuddle up to!

Please note that we are NOT accepting any applications for either Max or Jessie yet. We will not respond to any enquiries. Please keep amy eye out for updates. We are waiting for neutering to be done and hoping that this does not unsettle Max so he will be given a few weeks to recover before we are happy that he is happy. Thank you for your understanding.

Please form an orderly queue!

The gorgeous Tiko is in the house!

Tiko is a 9 year old Samoyed has had spells in short term foster with us a couple of times over the past few years due to his owner's declining health. Unfortunately, his owner's health is now quite bad and he's made the very difficult decision to let Tiko go and has asked us to find him a new home.

❤️ Tiko is a very affectionate boy, once he's got to know you.

🐕‍🦺 He loves his walks. He pulls a little and isn't overly keen walking by busy traffic.

🚗 He travels well in the car

🐕🐕 He happily walks alongside another dog and loves to play with other dogs but has never lived with another.

❓️unknown re cats

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 He has never lived with children but has been fine around them. Over 10 years old will be considered

The Samoyed breed requires a lot of grooming and a good vacuum would be recommended - so please bear this in mind!

Tiko is being neutered in a week or so's time but we will accept expressions of interest in the meantime. If younare interested please email [email protected]

Please meet our last intake for 2024 - Champion - a 5/6 yr old staffy cross.

Champion has been home alone for the last 2 weeks as his owner has been in hospital - coming back once a day to let Champion out and to feed him. Today he took the brave step and he contacted us after his support workers advised him that the current situation couldn't continue and he contacted us.

Two of the team went to meet him this afternoon and couldn't leave him so he is safe with us now.

If you would be interested in Champion or any of our other dogs please email [email protected].

We are very pleased to round off 2024 to announce the adoption of Prada! She came in as an emergency 2 days before Christmas last year.

Prada was a big young dog with few manners outside of the home, and with that came some complications and hard work.

Prada finally found her new family who have done everything right. They have taken their time getting to know Prada and introducing her to her new big (little) brother Bob.

Well done and thank you to everyone who has been part of Prada's journey.

We wish Prada a long, healthy and happy life with Bob, Emily and Luke 🐾🧡.

Thank you to all you lovely people who have offered on our available dogs recently.

When a dog is advertised they are 'looked after' by one dedicated person. We refer to them as dog liaison officers or DLO. This is to maintain one point of contact for fosterer/owner/ kennels/interested adopters. The DLOs may have several dogs they are managing, all at different stages of their rescue journey. Whether that be under assessment, in foster/still with owner/in kennels on supported adoption. They may arrange vet visits, review interested party's home checks, book secure fields, fetch and carry necessary items for the dogs, arrange behavioural assistance or the most stressful part - having to find somewhere to move a dog urgently for whatever reason.

We are a very small team of volunteers juggling our own families, pets and jobs plus Christmas is just days away.

So whilst you may not hear from us straight away - your interest will have been noted. We will contact you as soon as we can if we think you are a good match. We will not rush to place dogs anywhere unless absolutely necessary.

If anyone has anything negative to say - please take a minute, re read what has been posted and may be make a New Year's Resolution and offer to join our team to help alleviate the stress and pressure.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Ready for a heartwarming tale for a chilly Thursday evening.....?
Remember teeny, tiny Lacey? This little lady was found as a stray and she wasn't in especially great shape. A bit of TLC from the fab team at Kingsway Veterinary Group whilst she waited to see if she would be reclaimed ensured Lacey was set back on the right path to finding a new place to call home.
Fast forward three months, and Lacey has got her paws firmly settled under Felicia's table where she's proving a hit with everyone she meets! She's got some further surgery planned for January to ensure she's fully fit again, but despite that she was so relaxed about the adoption we had to wake her up for her 'gotcha' day photo. Guess who got out of the wrong side of her basket and hadn't quite got as far as putting her smile on!
Congratulations Lacey and thank you Felicia for giving this little girl a place to call her own!

We just want to take a moment to thank all our wonderful supporters who send in regular donations every month, donations to our appeals, one off donations and then all the donations we receive at Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄

It's wonderful to know so many of you value our contribution to the world of dog rescue, however much it is a drop in the ocean, by donating to us year in and year out, enabling us to continue to do what we do.

We wish we had the capacity to thank each of you individually! Please know each and every donation makes a difference and we are extremely grateful ❤️.
