One of today's visits was to this handsome pair! 😍 Ash and Raven are very impressive maine c***s!

As you can see they're super fluffy, mum does an excellent job of maintaining their fur so all that was needed was a little hygiene clip to keep them feeling fresh ✨️

This week I've been nursing one of our own 🥺

Being able to nurse family pets is one of the biggest advantages of the job, I can stay with them through the whole process ❤️

Poor Merlo had to have spinal surgery but thankfully I was able to be there for his CT, monitor his anaesthetic during surgery, cuddle him in recovery and look after him in the hospital 🏥

REMINDER TO CHECK YOUR DOGS TOYS!

Spike goes through kongs every 6 months or so... as you can see this one is no longer safe! Especially since this is something I leave him with when I'm not at home, I dread to think if it came off and got stuck in his throat 🤯😵‍💫

❌️❌️ BBQ'S ARE BAD FOR YOUR DOG ❌️❌️

Yes, you read that right! As a vet nurse BBQ's are one of those things I have constant paranoia about!

Here's what I'm worrying about whilst everyone else is tucking in care-free 😅

❌️ Corn on the cob's are one of the biggest causes of a foreign body when ingested, leading to emergency surgery to have them removed!

❌️ Skewers! Particularly wooden one's that are infused with irresistible flavours! Can cause foreign bodies and life threatening perforations to the stomach and intestines

❌️ Fatty food left overs such as sausages can cause acute pancreatitis which can lead to hospitalisation

❌️ Left overs or little 'treats' of human food that your dog is not used to can cause vomiting and diarrhoea

❌️ Burns...It may be obvious for humans but some dogs will not have common sense around hot flames/grills especially if they are at ground level. I watch out for them llicking the hot BBQ grill when everyone has sat down to eat!

❌️ Bones hold similar risks to skewers they can cause gastric upset, risk of foreign body and in some cases perforations. Some bones may also become lodged and cause a choking hazard/dental problems

After next week I will be reducing the amount/type of appointments I can do for the next 4 weeks as I'm getting married!!

This is to protect my arms/hands from being scratched up on the day 😂

This gorgeous boy is Freddie 😍

Freddie does not like his claws being clipped and has previously had to be sedated at the vets to get them done 😼

Today was my second visit to Freddie and he wasn't quite as sassy as last time 😅 so both me and his mum are hoping he will soon realise there is nothing to fear! We even managed to trim a few little matts...with Freddies permission of course 🤭
