On the Ordnance Survey Explorer map you will see white roads with green dots. Did you know that you're entitled to ride/carriage drive these roads? These are actually often unmetalled lanes and are on the County Councils' List of Streets maintained at public expense. Recently many more of these routes have been identified and added to the OS map in Hampshire. This painstaking work was undertaken primarily by the walking and cycling representatives who sit on the Hampshire Countryside Access Forum and supported by the equestrian representatives.
You can see if you have any of these routes by using the OS app or go to the Hampshire County Council online map: https://maps.hants.gov.uk/rightsofwaydefinitivemap If you find one of these routes blocked then please report it to Hampshire Highways and your local BHS Access and Bridleways Volunteer Officer.

A great success story from our Second Chance rehoming project, where RSPCA ponies are placed in BHS Approved riding schools. Thanks to Arniss Equestrian for taking care of this little chap.

How awesome to see how bold this pony is now - with him leading out this mornings forest ride. Harvey was rehomed at Arniss through the BHS Second Chance Rehoming Project. Well done to everyone who has played a part in his journey at Arniss. Such a happy pony 🤗

Starts Thursday 6th February at 6:30pm – 8:30pm for 4 weeks

This course is delivered by Senior BHS Assessor Carole Broad FBHS and covers all of the theory elements of the Stage 2 Care syllabus

Nothing better than seeing ponies Blossom and George, still in their new home (Burley Villa School Of Riding) 3 years after being rehomed through our Second Chance Project🐴✨. Look at those adorable faces showing off their rosettes won through E Riders!

Our Second Chance Project started in 2018, working with our Changing Lives Through Horses Centres to rehome horses and ponies through the RSPCA. This was then opened up to all of our BHS Approved Centres after the pandemic in 2021. Since then, 95 horses and ponies have been successfully rehomed within BHS Approved Centres, Just like Blossom and George!

🐴 Are you a horse owner or sharer?

🎆 Fireworks were debated in parliament recently but there is a lack of evidence to show the extent to which they can affect animals or people.

Redwings wants to help address that evidence gap and has launched a short survey for horse owners.

📝 We'd love to hear from anyone over 16 who owns, loans or shares an equine in the UK! The survey should only take a few minutes to complete and will make a real difference as we continue communications with government ministers and MPs in 2025.
