Here I’ve given Basil some quarter clipped fronts to bring his toe back to give a more balance hoof Pastern axis. Due to his near fore needing impression material and a frog supporting pad to reduce the impact, I’ve done it to both feet to balance the weight and keep everything symmetrical.
He also thought after I took photos he would show me what he really thought, see the last photo 🙈😅

Application of a Foal Rose Shoe. This cuff allows me to non-invasively apply a shoe with remedial properties on the hind foot. In this case, this youngster needed medial (inside) support to the limb due an angular limb conformation.

A beautiful crisp morning today, that can only mean one thing… Christmas is fast approaching 🎄.

This is always an extremely busy time of year for us farriers so please do contact me if you are due for an appointment around Christmas time as my slots are filling up fast.

I will do all I can to accommodate you but please note I will be taking some time off to spend with my family over the festive season otherwise I will have the wife to answer to 😂🙈.

Get in touch if you have not booked in already.

Happy Wednesday all!

Cheers, Chris 🔨 🐴

Introducing my beautiful family, my wife Clare, and daughters, Rosie and Poppy.

I am fortunate enough to say these ladies are my absolute world and to go to work each day knowing these ladies are at home waiting for me makes all of it so worth it.

My wife Clare, since having our youngest, Poppy, is taking a break from law to be full time mummy to our girls while they are little. Consequently, I am also fortunate enough to now have her support with my business which means I will be far more organised and efficient 😆 Good news for all!

Here’s to a family run business!! 🍾🎉

Cheers,

Chris 👍

A huge shout out to my fellow farrier friends who were kind enough to provide their time and support during times of unexpected ill health post op not so long ago. Managed to grab a quick snap of Steve in action below.

Also a huge thank you to my customers for their patience and understanding during that time of disruption. I really appreciated your flexibility and kind well wishes.

Thankfully I am now fully up and running again and in the full swing of it 🔨 Although it was very nice reminiscing my apprentice days and being the tea boy 🙈, I have thoroughly enjoyed being back out there with Pip 🐾 doing the job I love!

Emergency clogs needing application for this little laminitis Chappy! I made the clogs myself, receding the foot surface at the area the pedal bone is to make sure no pressure is there. Concussive impression material went in the frog to help distribute weight evenly on the caudal aspect of the hoof. This was then casted onto the foot for application which helps relive the pain and avoids having to nail on to an already sore foot.
The radial forces imposed on the foot during laminitis are distributed correctly to help the support of the hoof capsule during this episode.
Long road to recovery, but it’s a start 👍🤙
