Success story time ♥️

Meghan has been coming to us for weekly hydrotherapy sessions for 12 weeks following surgery on her left tarsus, which was unfortunately unsuccessful. Meghan hasn't been the easiest of patients to treat and we were curious as to how much progress she had actually made.

Yesterday we performed her 12th session review and I am pleased to report that she has made amazing progress 🥰. The owner reported she had made improvements at home and her stats were good. As you can see from the muscle mass measurements the fore limbs are now even in muscle mass and the left hind has made sufficient progress in catching up the right hind.

With regards to the stance results, in an ideal world we would expect to see 30% of body weight going through each fore limb and 20% of body weight going through each hind limb. Meghan is now much more even through her fore limbs and has improved loading through the left hind to take off the pressure from the right hind. In addition to this, her gait and posture has improved!!!

Meghan has undergone an intensive physio and hydro program and it's has paid off. Well done guys 👏

Myth: “If my dog doesn’t limp, their arthritis isn’t serious.”

✅ Fact: Many dogs with arthritis don’t limp noticeably, especially in early stages. Subtle signs like stiffness, slower movements, or reluctance to jump are important clues.

Amazing advice 💫

Myth:
“If my dog had arthritis, the vet would have told me already.”

✅ Fact:
Arthritis can creep in slowly and be easy to miss in a short appointment. Your vet is your best ally, but they rely on you to share the little changes you see at home 🐾

Together, you make the perfect team for catching arthritis early and keeping your dog comfortable.

Koko moved to the pool and was far more settled, his condition permitted us to move him and he was a much happier chap in the pool. Well done Koko. 🥳

September is a busy month here at the Centre getting everything ready for our Canine Hydrotherapy Association renewal.

Did you know as Registered Canine Hydrotherapists we have to complete 25 hours of CPD (Continued Professional Development) a year to keep our knowledge and skills up to date?

We can choose from a variety of topics of interest relating to hydrotherapy whether this be the latest research on conditions, surgical procedures, hydrotherapy techniques and treatments.

All of this is completed in our own time so that we have more time to treat your dogs 🤩.

The first day of autumn has come and gone and it's the start of the cold, wet weather. 🍁🍂 Or at least it feels like it.

If you have an older dog, you may notice they start to slow down or struggle with tasks that they had previously been fine with.

Earlier intervention is key and hydrotherapy may be able to help make your dog move more freely and get their spring back.

Mairi has been having weekly hydrotherapy sessions to help with her arthritis.

Mairi's owner says that she loves her hydrotherapy sessions with Ella and it really helps her through her senior years 🥰.

If you have an older dog who may benefit from hydrotherapy, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
