✋🏻❌ STOP walking dogs in this heat 🥵😭😩

A gentle (but firm) reminder to advocate for our dogs 🥺🙏🏼

Today I saw far too many pups out in 30°C heat.. one was even playing fetch in the blazing sun. My heart sank 💔

No dog has ever died from missing a walk… but every year, countless suffer and die from heatstroke. And that’s not even counting the burnt paws from scorching pavements.

☀️ Tip: Always check the temperature before heading out, even on cloudy days, the heat can still creep into the danger zone. Aim for super early mornings or late evenings when it’s cooler and safer.

Think about it: you wouldn’t stroll barefoot in a thick furry coat at midday in summer… so why expect our furry family to? 🥺🤍

Did you know there is a colour coding system used by dog owners to signify specific health or behavioural issues their pet may have? Coloured leashes and ribbons are a great way to indicate if your dog is aggressive, blind or in training. Even if your dog doesn’t fall into any of these categories, it’s an important thing to be aware of so you can detect potential issues with other dogs you may come across when out for a walk.

With temperatures soaring in parts of the UK this week, please remember that a 'smiling' dog is not always a happy one.

In fact, what looks like a grin (excessive panting and open-mouthed expressions) could be a sign that your dog is experiencing heatstroke and struggling to cool down 🥵

This is the technique I use to see if it’s safe to walk dogs when it’s warm even when the temperature is low as it saves dogs like even them missing a walk won’t kill them at all
