🐾 The other day at our Kilmarnock clinic, we had the lovely Lucy in with a blade of grass stuck in her nose—talk about a “ruff” day! Thanks to her diligent owner who spotted the issue right away!
Our vet Melanie carefully removed the grass while our vet nurse Rachael monitored her during the procedure. She left wagging her tail and ready for more adventures—hopefully she has learned not to “nose” around too much!
Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye on those curious pups—who knows what they’ll get into next! 🌿🐶❤️

Daffodils are toxic to dogs and cats, and you should be careful if you have them growing on your lawn or if you’re walking your dog through a field that’s full of them. Daffodils contain small crystals that can cause severe tissue irritation.
If you think your pet may have been in contact with daffodils or is showing any of these symptoms, contact your local vet ASAP.

If you have a puppy that has had their first vaccination but not their second, then you and your pup can come along to our FREE PUPPY PRESCHOOL!
Your pup can meet and socialise with other pups, play either and investigate interactive toys, pick the brains of our nursing staff about all things puppy and chat/share experiences with other puppy parents.
These sessions are on every Friday at our Kilmarnock branch from 3:30pm - 4:30pm. Please call 01563 522701 to book (room space is limited so we politely request only 1 or 2 owners with each puppy)
Although rabbits originate from the western Mediterranean, they’re not actually used to spending too much time in the red-hot sun. This is because in the wild, rabbits hide out in deep burrows where it’s cool and shaded. Hot summer days can prove dangerous to our bunnies. MBM Vets Kilmarnock and two other veterinary surgeries, in Mauchline and Beith, form MBM Veterinary Group.
Our Kilmarnock veterinary surgery was first established at 21 Hill Street over one hundred years ago in 1913. In those times, farm and equine medicine was the major focus, with the vets travelling out to visit their patients around Ayrshire. Over the decades, the practice expanded under the name of McKenzie Bryson & Marshall into a thriving, multidisciplinary practice treating all types of animals. We now have a fully equipped modern building which offers state of the art medical and surgical facilities for pets, horses and farm animals.
In 2014 we merged with Barr & MacMillan of Mauchline and, along with our Beith branch, the MBM Veterinary Group was born. Clients can now access facilities at all of our branches, not just their local branch.
Our vets, qualified veterinary nurses and support staff work in one of three departments, to treat pets, farm animals or horses. Our vets have a great depth of knowledge and experience and many have further postgraduate qualifications and special clinical interests. We have several RCVS Certificate holders in each department and an RCVS Specialist in Cattle Health and Production on our farm team. Each year, every team member undertakes ongoing training and we regularly attend veterinary conferences to make sure our knowledge and skills are at the forefront of current best practice.
We offer routine healthcare and first opinion veterinary services for all animals, and we also accept referrals in ophthalmology, cardiology, acupuncture, equine medicine and reproduction, and farm animal medicine and surgery.
We are committed to excellence in veterinary care.
