Jigger n Jambo (nicknames) having fun in the field. A bit of "stay" and "get on" training (couldn't be filmed as I didn't have enough hands), followed by some "leaving and entering the car manners" both in the car park and at home.

Needs some work but they'll get it.

On my walk with these 2 lovely ladies who were both born on the same day, I enjoyed the serenity of nothing but sky and land and a few hundred m on discovered I could see the sea too. Why have I never noticed this before?
Hearing a rustle, the 2 girls stood bolt upright as we watch 3 deer bob by through the long grass on the bed of the reservoir not more that 20 feet from us but the girls stayed with me. Beautiful sight and super proud of my girls. My own dogs would have thought "yes, fun time", and shot off after them 😆

I was chatting to a friend recently about finding and sharing the joy in what we do on a daily basis.
These days I find joy in those bright, fresh autumnal days where the colours change by the minute, and our pack of mad labs bring us no end of amusement, frustration (sometimes) and a constant source of learning about ourselves and them.
This extends to the beautiful dogs we have the privilege of sharing for a few hours per week and the fun we have with them too.
Last week we had an honorary guest lafy lab staying and she settled right in taking no nonsense from ours and giving us no trouble at all.
We also answered a plea for help from a previous client when their pet sitter walked off the job while his owner was out of the country! I'm sure they had their reasons but you just can't do that! We walked and fed him until we could get him safely into a local Kennel, no easy task during the October school week.

Please meet Walter.

He is a 4 year old mastiff (poss great dane cross) and is a huge lump of cuddles. Walter needs a couch (large couch!) as soon as possible - even for foster. Foster should be within 20 miles of KA18 2SG.

He can walk well on the lead but his natural curiosity with the world combined with his sense of humour means that if unprepared the walker could accidentally end up in a bush 🤣🤣

He is in good health but is awaiting neutering as he has just had part of his tail amputated.

The ideal home (foster or permanent) should be with somebody happy to help him recuperate from his tail surgery.

📢 URGENT APPEAL: OUR BIGGEST RESCUE YET 📢

During the first ten days of October, our teams were faced with an unprecedented situation. 216 dogs and puppies have come into our care, having been rescued from squalid conditions.

Many were suffering from severely matted fur, painful dental disease, and inflamed, irritated ears. Some puppies were just weeks old, and in desperate need of care.

We’re working round the clock to do everything we can, but we can't do it alone. We estimate it will cost £1,223.80 to look after just one of these animals.

We are urgently calling on our incredible community to help with the cost of helping these puppies and dogs recover and find their forever home. Please share this story and support us in helping these animals. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a massive difference. 💜

Just removed this from Monte's eye lid - still moving! Noticed it a day or so ago, but it was tiny and resembled a scab or skin tag. Due to where it was and the fact that we weren't sure, we left it alone. However, when Scott checked it this morning, it was clear it was a tic!
If you are walking your dogs in long grass or rural hillsides - anywhere with wild animals or livestock, please remember to check them for tics! Removal is painless and literally takes a second.
Horrible little feckers!

Kettle Training - Very basic

Imperfect action is better than no action at all. Video your training so you can make the necessary adjustments. I call this my "kettle training", a few minutes whilst waiting for the kettle to boil, done repeatedly over time adds up to lots of training. So, points to note: Only reward what you are asking for. Don't repeat the cue, ask once (I need to work on this) Keep your treats handy. Eg by the kettle if you are going to introduce this Only ask for the basics until they are nailed, eg sit, stand, down.

Just taking Cassi for short strolls now. She is disgusted that she can't run with the boys for now. One the plus side her loose lead walking is coming along nicely and I plan to continue with her in this way after her pups are born. Have to confess trying to take a short video to share her progress this am was hilarious. Take 1 First of all we reached a corner and came face to face with a young lad with what could only be described as a mid morning snack on the end of a lead. Cassi did a hormonal lunge and an indignant "woof" as she wondered why this little floor mop was on her road!!! The audacity! As I apologised and held Cassi aside to let said little bundle of fluff pass uneaten, I realised the lovely lady waving at me from the car beside us, was one of my dog mums! A tad embarrassing! So Take 2! As I got Cassi trotting happily long, whipped out my phone, went through a gazillion layers of security, started the camera, Cassi decided it was time to pop a squat! So Take 3 We met another little mid - mid morning snack on a lead. More indignation from Cassi. I apologised and blushed to the roots realising that I appear to the outside world to be that dog mum who has no idea how to walk my dog, and that I shouldn't have let her get so fat (I mean really?!) And it is disgusting that I am on my phone when I should be paying attention to my dog. Lol 😆 Absolutely 💯 I'd be ranting the same as an observer rather than the participant. In my defence, all I was trying to do was get a wee short video to share how she's doing .... We are on Day 60 with pups due any day now. I can forgive her the odd hormonal outburst. I remember some of my outbursts which were pretty epic when my own "pups" were due! One involved sending my long suffering hubby head first into a wardrobe as he bent to tie his shoes - but that's another story .... Anyway, here is our Cassi's morning waddle on a beautiful sunny morning for anyone who is interested. #time4paws #time4tinypaws

Cassi and Oli doing a wee bit of training yesterday. If they go too early, they don't get the reward. Also recording yourself with your dog(s) is a great way to reflect on how you interact with them. I talk too much as you can see here and I repeated the commands. Single word instructions work best. This is better demonstrated in my video with Monte. The single difference being I trust him to do as I ask, whereas with the pups, we are not quite there yet. I subconsciously demonstrate that by repeating myself and gibbering on.
