Antibiotic Amnesty 2022
Until the end of November 2022, overlapping with World Antibiotic Awareness Week (18th-24th November) both London Road and Hollies are holding an antibiotic amnesty where you can return any unused or partially used antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal.
Antibiotics can end up polluting our soil and water and should not be:
• Disposed of down the sink
• Flushed down the toilet
• Thrown in the bin
Increased antibiotics in the water means more bacterial resistance to antibiotics and this is harmful to both people and pets, therefore they should be disposed of safely.
You can help by taking part in the amnesty and bringing any unused or partially used antibiotics to your veterinary practice for safe disposal, so we can help keep antibiotics working for when they are really needed.
If you have any antibiotics that were prescribed by your gp, for yourself, these should be returned to your local NHS pharmacy.
