The very, very sad day has come when we've been served our notice. I'm in tears as I write this and trying to hold on to the belief that something good will come out of all this.
Our beautiful herd are looking for a new home!
πAnd we're praying for a miracle!! π
(please share this as widely as you can)
π PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M ABSOLUTELY COMMITTED TO KEEPING THE HERD SAFE, HAPPY AND TOGETHER. There's no chance that they will be put to sleep! They are safe - their home is not!! π
Sadly our landlord is needing to sell this beautiful sanctuary we've created here...
So we're looking for either :
π Someone with Β£1.4m to invest into something heartfelt and absolutely amazing - who'd like to buy and protect the incredibly beautiful place that is Springwood Farm in Handcross, West Sussex - with 63acres of land including 45 acres of enchanted ancient woodland (wise old oaks, yews, beeches, giant redwoods, birches etc) a stunning lake in the middle of the woods, wild flower filled heathland, barns, a house and stables, in order for us to carry on renting and running the sanctuary here.
It's been offered to us at a substantial discount. We're brilliant tenants who pay good rent, are extremely honest, reliable and responsible (references available) ... and we've renovated and restored this land organically with so much love over the past 2.5 years at our own expense.
HOWEVER time has very sadly pretty much run out on this option as we approached a potential investor to help us but who unfortunately is wanting to buy Springwood Farm for his own home! It was always a risk we ran by alerting anyone to the fact that this beautiful land is for sale π₯
(ie there is NO time for crowd funding etc as this sale is now going through unless someone offers a better deal to our landlord.)
Failing that " miracle" angel investor : We need to URGENTLY find somewhere to move to!
So we're looking to rent (or buy with a maximum available borrowing of Β£300,000):
π 10++ acres (absolute minimum but hopefully more)
π Some areas with trees for natural shelter and enrichment / interest rather than just a square field.. Perhaps.some surrounding copse that could be incorporated into the field?
π We're willing to fence land (we have had to fence Springwood and have fencing to take with us), and happy to invest in mobile field shelters (no planning permission required) if the land doesn't already have barns / stables. We don't need water troughs in fields, but we do need water somewhere to the site. We don't need electricity, loos etc.
π We don't need lush grass (I'd rather it was low quality scrub / heathland / meadow grass as that's better for the horses and donkeys metabolism).
π Ideally somewhere to live on site so we can keep an eye on and care for the herd 24/7. However we're ok with renting somewhere to live nearby if necessary.
π Ideally this would be in the South East of England... and if we can find somewhere local so that our wonderful, responsible, small group of volunteers can carry on supporting us then that would be amazing. However, I'm looking anywhere at the moment as long as it's not too far for the herd to travel and it's a sheltered and fairly mild climate (we have several aging thoroughbreds to consider).
β₯ Thank you! β₯

Ps For those of you not familiar with our ethos:
π We are passionate about nurturing the land, holistically caring for a small herd of rescued horses and donkeys who live as a forever herd (not re-homed, not ridden and not used in any way),
πI am highly qualified to teach Mindfulness, Wellbeing and Resilience and I support people with stress, anxiety, bereavement and mental health difficulties.
π I also teach animal healing, communication and a wonderfully effective and gentle way of animal rehabilitation. I support others to set up similar sanctuaries and follow their heart as true animal advocates with vegan ethics.
π We aren't open to the public and only have occasional retreat visitors. However, if you have land you'd be interested in renting to the herd of seven horses, two ponies and two donkeys but would rather not have other sanctuary visitors then I'd still be very interested in chatting about possibilities -as I can work at different location for my Mindfulness retreats and practitioner training.
Thank you so much everyone for all your help, support and love with this massive task.
With love and gratitude
Jacqui
