Last up at Rootstock24 was Experimental Sonic Machines featuring Ernie on drums. Ernie's left stick had a rubber b**g on it, making it bounce to create the quieter second note. Musicians in the audience mesmerised!

We often do well to approach life from different angles, allowing us to see a problem more clearly. Also, using this angle led to discovery of some “slugduggery,” Eggshells and natural wool make for an uncomfortable running surface, and will allow us to eat the veg we grow at harvest time, rather than having to share with our slimy friends!

Our third Rootstock festival takes place on Saturday 22nd June. The weather has been fantastic for the first two, so lets hope it behaves itself on Saturday. The festival is outdoors and the attractions are accessible for all. Our site is alcohol free. There is no booze, making the entire day an enjoyable experience for all.

Today we welcomed a group of people from , a centre for nature and green living in York. We all had a great time as we shared our knowledge on the process of establishing our urban farm in the city. As it was our usual general volunteering day, we had a lot more contestants for this week’s quiz. This week’s best answer “Roland Ratzenberger”

Recognising that we’re not allowed to plant permanently on our site, Emma and Keith from Hull college installed their latest art piece down in the wild garden at Rooted. Symbolising the importance of communication, they call it the “Wood Wide Web.” Come and have a look, it’s got a telephone on top and everything!

We can’t always be sure on the weather at Rooted, but sitting together always brings a smile from somewhere. Rooted in Sunshine is our women’s group. They meet every Thursday for arts and crafts, food prep skills, and companionship. 10am until 1pm.

Anyone with spare time on your hands this Saturday. We would love you to come and join us at Rooted in Hull, St Peters Street any time between 1pm and 4pm.
We are sharing a creative exhibition with pieces designed by our members depicting what Tourettes Syndrome means to them.
It is the start of Tourettes Awareness month and we wanted to highlight the condition in a different way.
We have live poetry readings, songs and dances, and lots of pieces on display.
Rooted will also be selling home made pizzas straight from their pizza oven and refreshments.
We have lots of young people exhibiting and would love to get some good footfall,

They keep coming to us and insisting on helping us to spread our message! Last week we were on BBC Morning Live although the program was recorded in early March. However, last week the BBC were here again with their social affairs correspondent, Fiona Lambdin doing some recording. The crew will return next week as we are scheduled to feature live on BBC Breakfast. Scott even received special attention for his homemade bread. Premiering on a tele near you, and this time… its personal.

If you have been to an event at Rooted before, then this post is not for you because you already know! The rest of you, watch this video and then take note of where Harry Baker will be performing live next week. We’ll be firing up the oven and serving pizza from 6:30 pm until we run out. Wednesday 15th May!

Hull leads the way with the Right to Grow motion. Today many of the spaces in the city were featured on BBC Morning Live including our very own Rooted in Hull on St Peter's Street. “Bees love Borage!” Martin talks to Tom Heap’s The Climate Show when he visited last week and made a short piece about the recent ‘Right to Grow’ announcement in Hull.

Black Friday Announcement Our Fridays are all special, no need to award a special colour. We don’t need special gimmicks to promote the good work we’re doing. Although, it is Friday and our live performance area is inside a purpose built, red shipping container.. so, Rooted in Hull presents… Vendredi Rouge Every Friday, for as long as we can! Kicking us off is Peter K Rollings, with his Experimental Sonic Machines that he engineers and builds himself. CAN’T HELP IT THE BOY CAN’T HELP IT

The young people from HANA have become regular visitors to Rooted this year. Here’s them performing a little chant about their day that they made up for us! Rhythm section was held together by Cole, The Human Beatbox, aka “THB”!

The final jar of honey has departed, heading to one lucky winner for just a quid in the draw. To celebrate, we drafted in a team of choreographers. The result? Three words: Innovation, Rhythm, Style.
