There has been plenty going on at Rooted in these summer months. Last Monday we hosted some young people from The Warren and the day was so eventful we will try not to forget anything.
First, we had a wander around our site and chatted about the ways in which we grow food followed by the customary bee chat which is always a winner.
They got involved with various art projects including a Warren banner and a number of them extended the arty treatment to their shoes.
They all took turns in creating and baking their own pizza as well as bringing with them their own ice cream making machine. Comments? Delicious, both!
Arguably the best part of the day was watching their amazingly confident performances on The Red Container stage, videos later this week.
They all said they wanted to come again before the end of the summer and we can’t wait!
Another great day down at Rooted last Saturday with @themaygeslins, @hullhistorynerd and the story of Dead Bod! The weather was kind too!
It's not Rootstock without the irreverent Andy Sneaks
We call it the quiet before the storm, hoping for nice weather but whatever happens down at Rooted today, there will be good food, live music, stalls and fun so don't miss it 🙂🎸🍕
See you all tomorrow for Rootstock. Pizza, soup, arts, crafts, and live music. All the fun starts from 12pm.
We often do well to approach life from different angles, allowing us to see a problem more clearly. Also, using this angle led to discovery of some “slugduggery,” Eggshells and natural wool make for an uncomfortable running surface, and will allow us to eat the veg we grow at harvest time, rather than having to share with our slimy friends!
Our third Rootstock festival takes place on Saturday 22nd June. The weather has been fantastic for the first two, so lets hope it behaves itself on Saturday. The festival is outdoors and the attractions are accessible for all. Our site is alcohol free. There is no booze, making the entire day an enjoyable experience for all.
Rootstock, our annual free music festival starts at 12pm in just over a fortnight’s time, on Saturday 22nd June 2024
Recognising that we’re not allowed to plant permanently on our site, Emma and Keith from Hull college installed their latest art piece down in the wild garden at Rooted. Symbolising the importance of communication, they call it the “Wood Wide Web.” Come and have a look, it’s got a telephone on top and everything!
Our annual Rootstock Festival is happening again on Saturday 22nd June!
Here's a look at what you missed last year, don't make the same mistake twice (unless you want to 😉)
We've just told the bees and they don't care, but it's World Bee day today, its creating quite the buzz etc
Another great advert for Hull city, just in case anybody missed it (as we did 😆).
You might be able to get planting on a patch near you! Let us show you how to get started, there's plenty of people willing to help, and they're all over Hull, have a watch!
