🍗What are the benefits of raw food?

Introducing your pets to a raw food diet can have numerous benefits for their overall health and longevity. One of the primary reasons pet parents consider raw feeding is the potential for improved digestion. Raw diets often contain natural enzymes that aid in digestion, helping them to absorb nutrients more efficiently and reducing issues like bloating and gas.

Another significant advantage of raw feeding is enhanced coat condition. many pet owners notice that their pet's coat becomes shinier and softer after transitioning to a raw diet. The improvement is often attributed to the higher levels of essential fatty acids and other nutrients found in raw foods, which contribute to healthier skin and fur.

Additionally, raw feeding can lead to better dental health for pets. Chewing on raw bones and other natural ingredients helps to clean teeth and reduce plaque buildup. This can result in fresher breath and a lower risk of dental problems, which can be more common in pet’s who are fed processed diets.

🍗How do I change my pet's diet from biscuits to raw food?

Split your pet’s meal into two meals, one in the morning and one on the night, this is if you do not do so already. Feed your pet their normal meal in the morning and feed them their raw meal on the night, make sure to start with 80% of their normal meal and 20% raw. Increase the amount of raw given each day to prevent the food from upsetting your pet’s belly. After just over two weeks, your pet should have been converted to a 100% raw food diet.

Make sure not to mix kibble and wet food because animals digest dry and wet food at different rates and it will most likely cause an upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhoea as well as a lot of other health issues.

🍗How do I ensure my pet has a balanced diet on raw?

You can create a basic raw meal by combining a good protein source like Turkey or Chicken mince and adding some fruit or vegetables like chopped carrots or blueberries. It would be ideal to find 80:10:10 mince, meaning 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal because this mimics a dog’s natural diet, meaning it is easier on their digestive system.

To further enhance your furry friend’s raw diet during Rawgust, consider incorporating supplements. Even with a well-balanced raw diet, some pets may benefit from additional nutrients to support their overall health. Popular supplements for raw-fed pets include fish oil, probiotics, and joint support formulas.

Due to unforeseeable circumstances, we are not getting a Durham delivery today.

The next deliveries will be due in Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd October. We will also still be getting our normal delivery on Friday 6th.
