29/1/25 update on Harold.
Improving massively- just look how clear his face is now! The mites are all gone and his worming treatment continues; in general we are pleased with his progress so far since he arrived on 15th.
RELEASE TIME
We are a bit quiet on media, but ever so busy behind the scenes. We have around 55 of our 60 patients preparing for release hopefully over the next two to three weeks.
When your hedgehog is ready to go you will receive a text giving you 24hrs to make contact to organise your hedgehogs release day collection. If we do not hear from you it will be assumed that you do not want to provide for them back in
your garden and will be allocated to known soft release gardens in your area. This may sound harsh, but these are wild animals snd must get back to the wild asap in order to prevent captivity stress. So don’t ignore the message, we need to hear from you! It will arrive with our new number .
Please ensure our new number is in your contact list 07507 791665
Update: poop sample revealed both round and lungworm. Treatment has commenced.
19/01/25
240g Horris/Florence has just arrived and is warming up in the Brinsea eco incubator. Found on a doorstep in #hornsea last night, taken in and fed, before coming to us today.
A not very nice poo sample has been presented, so that will be tested for parasites. Two ticks have been removed so far, and pretty sure there will be more to remove.
Please continue providing food & water, they do not all hibernate & there are no healthy insects to eat at this time of year. This little hoglet was likely born Oct/Nov.

January 15th 2025.
494g HAROLD is our first arrival in 2025.
Harold was found in daylight crossing a road in Sutton, and thought to be lame.
His veterinary examination has revealed that he appears to be an amputee and has no microchip. He is also suffering an infestation of mites on his face and ears.
We are awaiting the poop to test for internal problems and all will be treated.
It is possible too that he has been attacked and his right hind leg torn clean off and has healed
over.
Harold will stay with us for a few weeks until he is fully recovered.

QUIZ ME FRIDAY ! 10/01/25
UPDATE: Sadly Bobby🦔 was euthanised due to a dislocated hip and a fractured knee hock. Very likely caused by a car😔
RIP🌈🦔
We reopened yesterday for arrivals after taking a break to mourn my mum and getting over a lurgy.
Welcome Bobby! 327g juvenile found scurrying around a garden. Unfortunately Bobby has a leg injury and will be examined by the vet. Hopefully it is a simple bite wound rather than a fracture 🤞
Please continue leaving support food & water out each night. Many hedgehogs do not hibernate, especially this year’s hoglets and juveniles.
So long as they are fed and only appearing at night they are best left alone, obviously if they are lame, coughing, struggling to breath etc, then bring them into a rescue for medications.
If you see them in daytime hours, then catch them and contact your nearest rescue.

Feeding time!
All the bowls have been washed in #fairyliquid, rinsed, then soaked in #miltonsteriliser . Roughly 120 dishes every day!
Here you can see how we dish up in our 3 hospital sheds.
We are in need of a #volunteer to collect the bowls & washup for us on a Sunday; would also suit a #dukeofedinburgh student. Start time between 10am and 1pm.
If you are interested, please email

Now almost recovered from a nasty cough & cold that knocked me out and mourning my mother’s passing, I am trying hard to be Christmas spirited.
Today I put on my xmas hedgehog sweatshirt; might be all I can manage right now though.
X❤️🦔🎄Hope you are all getting onto the swing of it.
Don’t forget, if you have left over, still edible cooked meat, the hedgehogs will love it chopped up. Ensure there is no salt etc attached. 🦔🎄
I have some truly talented volunteers here!
Pammy has made this embroidered A5 book cover for me for Christmas- isn’t it fabulous?!
She can embroider so many designs!
We hope to fund raise by selling some of her work very soon.
