It’s been all systems go this Monday!
Our Show Cross set up has made good progress today, with the course nearly set, stakes and fencing coming along nicely, rosettes organised and warm up ring near on complete. Importantly, the ground is looking excellent!
The course is set out in a very spacious area, with the ground looking great ahead of Saturday. We have plenty of parking in the adjacent enclosed field, for all trailers, lorries and cars.
Plenty of classes on offer, including Nanny and Novice (40cm) - perfect for green horses, nervous riders, children and adults alike! Novice follows Nanny around the course. We also have 60cm Pairs (Ride a round each) plus individual height classes going up to 90cm.
Craig Ellis Photography covering the day, plus Food 4 U Catering keeping us fed and watered. Gorgeous rosettes to 6th place. Enter on the day, or by going to www.equoevents.com
Skulls caps/none fixed peaked caps and body protectors to be worn. Competitors may wear cross country colours or show jumping jackets for their round.
All very welcome! See you all on Saturday!
It was lovely to be back at the gorgeous Beverley Polo Club today for our monthly Grid Work Clinic.
It was a busy day of back to back lessons today, using a wonderfully versatile gymnastic grid, that could be adjusted to meet the various levels of horse and rider.
We also worked on adjustability in the canter, using two canter poles to shorten, and lengthen canter strides. Some riders stuck to flat work, whilst others worked on poles alone. A lovely varied day, meeting so many new combinations, as well as our grid work regulars!
Thank you so much to all those who joined us today, you all produced some super work, and made lovely improvements. Our next grid clinic date is Friday 6th October, and open to book via www.equoevents.com
The show ground is freshly cut! And so it begins... Annual Summer Show prep 🙌🎉
A lovely afternoon/evening well spent over at Beverley Polo Club today for our monthly Grid Work Clinic.
We had lots of new combinations join us - young horses, those new to grids, new combinations - as well as several Grid Work regulars. Each lesson was tailored around the individual, but the end goal was the same - building confidence, improving technique, and making sure it was fun for horse and rider.
Lots to like from all combinations today, and many improvements to note. We hope you all enjoyed todays set up. Thank you to Beverley Polo Club for allowing us to host this clinic, and for keeping us warm and dry amidst the rain showers!
Our June date will be released shortly. Our video from today, is of Lorna and Hettie, who rode carefully and confidently through the grid ❤️
We have just a couple of spaces left on our Grid Work Clinic at Beverley Polo Club on Sunday 12th March.
All levels of horse and rider welcome - confidence is built from poles on the floor, with each lesson tailored to the individual. The grid is gradually built, with focus on technique, rather than height.
A fantastic gymnastic work out for both horse and rider, with reaction rate, balance, rhythm and straightness really put to the test!
Bookings via www.equoevents.com - please PM for details
What a lovely day we've had today teaching our monthly Grid Work Clinic at Beverley Polo Club
We saw all manners of combinations today, from 12.2hh ponies to 19hh horses, green horses to horses competing at B.S - no matter the stage in their training, all of our horse and riders did fantastically, growing in confidence and improving technique.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us today - it was such a pleasure to teach, and everyone gave it their all. Thank you as always to Beverley Polo Club for allowing us the use of such a wonderful facility.
Please look out for our next date for January, which will be published next week. Captured in action is Evie McCoid, and Queenie, who rode the grid beautifully. Well done all, have a lovely weekend 😊
We couldn't help but share this slow mo from yesterdays Pole Work Clinic of Katie, and Gary, perfecting their footfalls yesterday 🤩
Relaxed frame, lengthened stride and balanced rider 😍 What's not to love!
And just like that we're coming to the end of another busy week!
We've had a brilliant week of lessons, both at home and on a freelance basis, continued our summer show prep, as well as wrapping things up with another excellent Pole Work Clinic.
Next week our diary will be filled with Show Cross prep, more lessons and even more summer show organisation. A decision will be made over the next few days as to whether the Show Cross will be held in our rubber surfaced outdoor arena, which is looking more likely, as the ground remains on the hard side.
Accompanying the post is a snippet of 6 year old Gabriella, and her pony, Missy, in their jump lesson on Friday, doing an absolutely sterling job of the exercise challenged to them. Fabulous young jockey, I'm sure you will all agree!
Raised pole work for the lovely, Lola, and owner @clare198765 in their lesson today - and just look at that stretch! 😍
Lola started the lesson rushing through the line, as her trot rhythm became fast and flat. Her footfalls became clumsy as a result. But every opportunity gives the chance to improve, and by the end of the lesson she was far more balanced, and rhythmical. Her joint mobility improved, and she showed some lovely lengthening in her stride. A very pleasing end for the pair who worked hard as always.
It's not always about perfection, but making improvements!
For all those showing today as a quick update we are currently on class 4 - 4, 5 & 6 year olds with plenty of entries for the rest of the inhand section.
We've been doing lots of groundwork with our lovely Welsh D youngster, Bear, recently, including getting him to stand patiently at the mounting block.
Bear was a super star today, remaining completely still and content as he stood by the block for a groom. Just a week ago, Bear was nervous and suspicious of the block, but with consistent and patient handling he has quickly overcome his initial nervousness.
Bear is a typical Welsh D, inquisitive and bright as a button, but with a heart of gold to match. He has already changed shape and grown to 14.1hh since we bought him 7 weeks ago, and will continue to mature further both physically and mentally over the next few months. He is certainly showing us he will be worth the wait 💙
Jumping into 2021 like 💁♀️
Lots of fun today hosting our first jump clinic of the year! A big thank you to Maria and Mark for once again allowing us the use of your incredible venue, we absolutely love it here and so do our clients!
Lauren challenged our clinic riders today with a fairly simple set up, but with a few dog legs thrown in for good measure. Our riders had to really focus on riding their lines, and being one step ahead at all times. A lovely challenge which our clinic riders stepped up to fantastically! Well ridden, everyone!
In response to the amazing feedback we received from this clinic, we have adding a second jump clinic date in this month on Saturday 23rd January, at our base in Cottingham.
We've already started taking bookings, which are open on www.equoevents.com
Both private and semi private sessions available. Please note when booking a semi private lesson, we do not match pairs but instead leave it at the discretion of friends to book a semi private slot together, at a cost of £40.00 per pair. Please PM for any further information.
Our video shows Andie and her marvelous pony, Brian, riding our set up brilliantly.
Well that's a wrap on another jam packed clinic!
Thank you to all of our clinic riders who joined us today for our hotly anticipated Grid Work Clinic. We loved every second of the day and had great fun coaching so many talented riders at this beautiful venue.
We'd like to say a massive thank you to Maria and Mark for the use of their envious arena! Lauren and Rosie had great fun coaching today and were thoroughly impressed with the effort that everyone put in. We hope all of our clinic riders enjoyed their lesson and left the arena with a smile on their faces!
Next week we host our hugely popular Pole Work Clinic at our base in Cottingham. We have had a couple of late cancellations for it so if you would like to join in the fun please send us a DM.
The interest in today's Grid Work Clinic has been huge so we will look to set a date for a second clinic in the near future. Watch this space for details!
Featured are Georgia and Witty, who have made huge improvements over the last few months in their regular lessons with Rosie. Witty is becoming increasingly more careful in his jump work and made easy work of today's grid. Well ridden Georgia!
All set and ready to go 😍
💦 Look what arrived today!💦
For your chance to win your very own Hot Tap from Hydrotherm you need to head to our Summer Show on the 28th July, compete in qualifying classes to receive points for our showing series.
The combination with the highest number of points at the end of the show will win this Hot Tap!!
We have been very lucky here at Cottingham Equestrian Centre to see a demonstration of this product. It is really easy to use, convenient and very safe. By far the best hot horse shower weve seen.
