JUST PUTTING SOME FEELERS OUT!

I may have an older cat looking for a new home. He came into the cattery in a dreadful state in May but is a gorgeous older gentleman who just wants love and a quiet life. Get in touch if you think you could offer this wee man a forever home.

The fantastic food we use at Stonedykes Cattery! Legend by Vodabone! 60%, 70% and 75% protein (meat/fish). Compare that to 4% in Go cat and 29% in Royal
Canin. We use the best so your cats come home looking and feeling fabulous! 🥰

After 16 years of using Royal Canin in the cattery I have been shocked at the price increase since Covid. I decided that if I was having to pay that price I would look for a better quality food to give value for money.
We are now using Legend from Voda-Bone Pet Supplies. This is a food exclusive to Vodabone and is grain free and made, as you can see on the bags, from 60% Salmon or Turkey. The kitten food is an amazing 75% Chicken & Salmon. Most importantly, the cats that have been in the cattery in the last few months have given a resounding “paws up” 🐕💜🐾

Now that the madness that was “The October Break” is over, thoughts are turning to Christmas 🎄 🎄

We still have limited availability for Christmas and New Year. We accommodate cats 365 days a year but we are closed to the public 25th,26th Dec and 1st and 2nd Jan.

If you are going away over the festive season, don’t leave booking until the last minute as when the units are gone they’re gone! Joanne x

Friends and customers often ask me about dog training. Here is my one and only recommendation. Michelle helps sort out dogs with problems and does not charge a fortune. Ethos of this charity is “affordable training without the use of cruel gadgets” 💜💜

Welcome To Canine Welfare & Training’s page!

My name is Michelle and I’m the Charity Trustee. Dogs are my passion and I can’t imagine not having a dog/dogs in my life. This charity was set up in 2020 with the aim of helping owners and their dogs in our community to come together, help each other and increase the bond between owner and dog in a controlled and relaxed environment.

Our Service Users come together at our training area in Kirkcaldy. There is always a friendly atmosphere, which has beneficial effects for young, old and physically disabled people.

People who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions benefit greatly, gaining confidence and overall a feeling of belonging and are always encouraged to take part.

If you are thinking about training for your dog or trying out a sport with your dog - get in touch - you will be so glad you did 🐾

This is a post that I really didn’t want to write, but unfortunately I have no other option. 😞

Following the announcement of the 80% increase in energy costs from October, we have had no choice but to re-evaluate our pricing structure. As always, the cats in our care are our priority, and we will never cut corners where their welfare is concerned.

Since January, all our costs have increased, electricity, food, litter, cleaning products, insurance and disinfectant (this has over doubled in price since January!). We have managed to absorb all these costs up until now, including the previous energy price rise. However, when the new increase hits us in October, we, like many other businesses, will struggle.

So, my choice is either to close the cattery during the coldest months, or increase our prices slightly to cover the increased costs. Normally our price increase happens on 1st January, however, as from 1st October 2022 when the energy price increase kicks in, all our prices will increase by £1.

Prices may be subject to change due to the increase of energy costs forecasted in the upcoming months but I will always notify bookings with at least 28 days notice. I am hopeful that this will not need to happen🤞

For new bookings that commnce 1st October onwards, our new prices will be as follows:-
1 cat £13/day
2 cats sharing £19/day
3 cats sharing £23/day
4 cats sharing £26/day

I really regret having to pass these costs on, as many of you have supported me for the last 15 years. But at present there doesn’t seem to be an alternative.

All prices are per day including day of arrival and day of departure.

Great news for Fife animals! 🐶🐱🐰💜

Vet John Ferguson, who previously set up East Neuk Veterinary Clinic in St Monans, Fife, has succeeded in winning planning permission for a Primary Care and orthopaedic referral centre in Glenrothes.

The hospital will cover nearly 12,000 sq ft on an acre of brownfield land which previously housed a car sales lot, and he hopes to employ 20 people.

Separate patient recovery kennels have been designed to help contain noise and odours, while Mr Ferguson has planned a spacious and airy building with lots of natural light.

Equipment will include a 64-slice CT scanner, theatre fluoroscopy and gantry-mounted DR x-ray suite.

Mr Ferguson said well-being was paramount in his planned surgery, with the new site offering flexible working patterns, an on-site gym and a mindfulness room for staff, while it will also feature a private staff garden and wildflower meadow.

There are always some pretty grim treats for sale but this time of year it really is a perfect excuse to off load the biggest load of toxic tat for our dogs to "enjoy" 🤢 as a treat.
Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas 😥

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China...

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.
On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn`t bad enough they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog 😞

Leave them in the shop where they belong or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away for later 😉 then dispatch in the bin!
