Hey folks just a quick heads up.
We will be out of work for Friday morning through till Tuesday. Our daughter has a big dance competition and replying to business messages won't be easy. We've had quite a lot of open ended enquiries this last couple of weeks. You need to get the orders finalised if you want them I'm the system before we go away. We'll not be very good at replying to them from tomorrow night onwards.

Every December is the same. We put the feelers out well before the season is due to start asking people not to leave their orders too late. We deliberately scaled down coming up to Christmas this year but still got set back. December is just not a great month for getting stuff done. I was quietly optimistic that we could still take on a bit of extra work but maybe sometimes I should learn to limit my optimism....how you do that whilst trying to run a small business I don't know.
Anyway January has been much better. No colds or flu. Work has all finished on the house. Kids back in school and my head in a better state. We've managed to get lots of smaller orders completed and shipped and have finished the month with these 2 orders both destined for the US. One is a sizing pack and the other is a main order. A positive start to the year is a good start though.

Tug loops need to be extra durable. Why?

A couple of years ago we got some valuable info from one of our mid distance teams. The outer sheath on our tug cords was fraying. This came as a bit of a surprise because it was the only time we'd got that feedback. They trained a lot on predominantly sand trails out of snow season and we thought the sand might be getting into the tug material and rubbing against the bronze snap. However, it was still something we wanted to better if we could. We trialled different types of tug cord but no real joy. Which was a shame because they were colour coordinated to the size of harness. But needs must and durability has to come before cosmetics. We switched to dyneema type material for tug loops and kept the colour coding in the harness loops. So you still have the colour coding dictating size but you also have much more durable tug cords. I might be wrong but I don't know of any other brands that have gone that far at the tug to give the best quality/durability. Guys little things like this make a huge difference. Yes it costs us more but you get extra piece of mind and longevity. Please keep in mind if you are comparing us to other makers/brands.

Check it out. This is what we use on our Rundug Belt Pouch. The Pouch takes a lot of abuse. Not only where its sewn fixings are but just in the nature of it when it's being used. For this reason we made the choice to go for one of the strongest rip stop type materials on the market. It's not cheap but it is better. Please bear this in mind when comparing Rundug with other equipment makers/brands.

Sad news to wake up to. The legend Harris Dunlap has sadly passed away. My claim to fame was when he told his daughter Kriya Dunlap that our harnesses were the best fitting harnesses he had ever seen on her dogs. It's been a statement that I get quite a lot of comfort from when needed. Our thoughts are with Kriya and all the family at this sad time. RIP Harris Dunlap.🙏

It's a wrap.

December is always a challenging month for us and this year has been no different. We've had a lot of work done on the house and other things that have affected our workload. I hoped to have a good week last week but had a horrendously bad stomach (I'll spare you the details) and didn't manage to get into the workshop till Friday. Realistically it wouldn't have made much difference to overseas Christmas deliveries but I still wanted to get a lot of stuff finished up. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Another typical December.
So that's us finished now till the start of January. Time to try and forget work and concentrate on our family and dogs. My tank is pretty empty just now and I'm really feeling the need for some Christmas cheer and family love...I hope you all get the same.
So we would like to take this opportunity, to thank you for another year in business and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May Santa be good to you and Cthulhu be kind to your trails. 🎄

From Open Class middle distance musher to Canicross runner.

No time for nutters.....
All our products are hand made by us. That requires not just a helluva lot of dedication but also a helluva lot of love and positive feelings. We have all the time in the world for our customers but I (Billy) have no time, or patience, for wasting my good energy on people that don't even run in our products. Take your negative energy elsewhere because I don't have the headspace for it in my world. Life is too short....the world is big and your negative twisted gripes are insignificant. "Block" slag us of elsewhere but you're not using our page to play your games.
You think making harnesses is easy? Show us what you can do...Otherwise don't run us down for what we do for the sport.

Website changes.....
There are 2 main changes. Which are short/long sizes and Merchandise.

We stopped doing short and long versions a few months back. It was proving too much of a problem for us and isn't really needed in the majority of cases. The inner dimensions and geometry of our harnesses are the most important part. Work with us...an extra 1cm or 2cm in length isn't something your dog is going to have problems with.

Merchandise...we decided to use a 3rd party to try and make life easier. The thought occurred, that if we outsourced that part of work it would make things more efficient. Honestly...I wasn't happy with it. It didn't reflect good value for money and that's not the reflection we wanted on our business. So we will be coming back with a simplified vetsof this that we can do ourselves. A better quality garment at a better price. More on that to follow.

Alaska do you see us??

We never really need to bother about advertising but I decided to try and get my gear in order and have a dabble. It made sense to do a bit in Alaska to help support our stockist out there. It's very small scale what I've done but would be really Interested to know if anyone has seen a Rundug advert pop up in Google? Please let me know if you see anything because it would be handy for me to know if it works.🙏

We are gently exploring the idea of taking on a little bit more stockists. It's not something we can do too much of just now but we would like to make our equipment more accessible for customers that would prefer their orders quicker.
We're thinking the next one would ideallybe more central Europe based. Maybe has trade stands at major races but also has retail as well. I'm open to ideas though.

Hey folks. I need to post this to avoid confusion. Our new harness with the padding in the back isn't a replacement for our original XPRO harness. You will not automatically get this harness when ordering. The default harness when ordering is our original XPRO harness. We are gauging interest with the new style but it will not be on sale properly till it is added to the website. It will also be a little more expensive than our original XPRO. First ones head out to our Rundug Test Team tomorrow.

Our latest design. Putting padding in the back straps is something we've trialed lots of times over the years. The main thing that put us off was how it put additional pressure on the rib cage. We felt the negatives of that outweighed the positives of the extra padding. But it's been something that I still hoped to get how I wanted it at some stage. Now we have it how we want it, by using a combination of our main padding and the air mesh padding as well. The main padding takes the bulk of the padding at the points which need it most and the air mesh gives additional comfort on the back straps, without causing the wrong type of pressure. It's hard to improve on our original XPRO Harness but this additional comfort will give peace of mind to those that look for as much comfort as possible for their dogs. I'm other words...you are getting the best of both worlds. Available now for pre-order. Our Dogs, Our Team, Our Equipment

In 2010 we set up the first retail shop in the UK to sell sled dog, canicross, bikejor and dog scootering equipment. We stocked and distributed for a lot of the major brands but eventually lost faith in the products we were selling. Either we didn’t like the fit, or it might have been the materials.....or sometimes both. There was only one thing for it...Manufacture our own. We needed a kennel name for our Scandinavian Hound Sled Dogs. We needed a team name for ourselves and we needed a brand name for the equipment we made....RUNDUG. When we first started designing our own equipment, we had no idea it would be as complicated and as time consuming as it is. It has taken us a lot of years and prototypes to get to the stage we are at now. We don’t aim to be the next big thing...we just want to make equipment, that we love, trust and know that our dogs are going to run great in. We hope you love it too. Team Rundug
