Hi there everyone.
This is a post regarding Star of the Week.
This most recent Star of the Week is the last one we will be doing for the year.
Unfortunately this is in part due to the reactions we are getting in regards to our Star of the Week posts.
While most people take it in good fun and understand it is simply a silly little award we present to our kennel dogs, others have taken to making passive aggressive comments, or making us uncomfortable for not picking their dogs.
We understand that everyone sees their babies as the stars of the week, and all of the dogs in the kennel are indeed stars, who we all love and treat equally, so it is upsetting to us when we are sniped at for not picking your dog this week. We have 24 kennels and can house up to 52 dogs at a time. The picks for star of the week are not based on favouritism, or familiarity, or anything like that. It is simply a silly little prize that we thought would bring people joy, not start infighting or passive aggressive comments.
We give all our dogs the best care possible. We love them all equally, from the overly affectionate, to the stand offish. From the naughty to the nice.
We are seriously considering not bringing back Star of the Week for next year, simply because it is appearing to be more of a hassle than it’s worth. Our job is wonderful, but it is hard work, and we throw our all into it- it is hurtful being sniped at over something we started doing to bring joy and laughter.
Please consider that all your dogs are an option for Star of the Week and if we continue doing it next year, we’d appreciate a bit more of a mature attitude in regards to our picks. It really isn’t a personal swipe at anyone, it’s simply meant to be a bit of fun, but if it’s causing negative comments or attitudes, we reserve the right to stop doing it. It would just be a shame to do so.
