🍁 October Camps 🍁

Next month we have the October Holidays, and what better way to spend them than with our ponies! We have so much fun and excitement planned for all of those signed up, there are still spaces on ALL our camps so contact NOW if you’d like a space 🤩

See below some of the exciting things we have planned for camps!!!

🦄 Non-residential Camp 7th-10th October 🦄

Monday- Get to know your pony lesson in the morning followed by an afternoon of fun pony club games!

Tuesday - Morning Happy Hacking (weather depending) and fun jumping in the afternoon.

Wednesday- Morning recap school movements ready to practice a mini dressage test in the afternoon

Thursday- End of camp Competition!

🐴Mini Camp 17th-18th Oct🐴

Thursday: Morning flatwork lesson to get to know your pony, followed by afternoon fun and games.

Friday: Morning hack (weather depending) with an afternoon intro to poles/jumping lesson

Tomorrow, TUESDAY 3rd September we have availability with Diana Zajda! 6-7pm. Only a couple of spaces left!

Pathhead ponies are available to use if needed 😊

Diana has worked in riding schools and is therefore happy to work with a real variety of riders whether young or old, novice or advanced.

She evented to the old 3* level and coaches show jumping and cross country but nowadays most people see her as a dressage coach.

She competed her own horse very successfully to advanced medium level and qualified on numerous occasions for the BD National Championships.

She has her BDCC3 and is a level 3 BD dressage judge.

We are so lucky to have her come to Pathhead so make the most of it! Get in touch to book now!

*****Pony Club Update********

Due to the high popularity of our Saturday Pony Club Sessions, we will now be opening up a new session.

Wednesday Evening Pony Club will run 4pm-8pm every week

The evening will involve:

🐴 Helping to bring the ponies in from the field, groom, tack up, etc.

🐴 1 hour group riding lesson

🐴 1 hour badge work

🐴 Turning the horses out and tidying up

This evening session will be perfect for those interested in Pony Club but already have other commitments on a Saturday.

Please note:
For now, we will only be able to take riders who are off a lead rein in this session
There is some flexibility for anyone further out that can't get there by 4pm, don't let that put you off!

Just had to share one of our favourite moments from the summer camps.

After just one lesson introducing a handful of drill ride movements, they worked as a team to come up with their own routine and practiced it without our direction.

It just highlights that horseriding isn't just learning how to ride a horse, but how to work as part of a team, both with the horses and other people.

⭐️ Gold star to these kids!

That's the final summer camp for 2024 come to a close. Exam results are out and nights are getting shorter but wow we had fun..

Some quotes from this camp were....

🐴 I liked jumping, it was my 1st time and it was fun.

🐴 Pony games going in and out of obstacles and being in control.

🐴 Ba****ck it was uncomfortable and scarey to start with but it soon became the best.

🐴 Learning to tack up a pony by myself.

🐴 Hacking to see the countryside and trotting because I like speed.

Toni Graham will be with us Tuesday 30th July!

Toni has been a qualified riding coach for over 30 years and has been involved with horses & ponies since childhood enjoying success in all the fun of childhood with mounted games, Show Jumping & Eventing. After qualifying as a coach and spending several years at home with her small livery yard and bringing on young horses, she detoured for a while into Equestrian publishing and Equine Rehabilitation which initiated a move to Ireland for maybe a year, she stayed for 17!

Whilst there, she was firstly based in a wonderful rehabilitation yard whose focus was on the whole horse - body & mind. Lots of life lessons were learned when rehabbing horses with physical injuries and trust issues. This and several Racing yards is where her interest and experience in equine bodywork through Reiki, massage & MFR was first honed.

Her main teaching role through these years as well as freelancing and Pony club coaching was as Co-Manager/Senior coach at one of Ireland’s top BHS ‘Where to Train’/Examination Yards, this allowed her access to many wonderful Irish & British examiners, coaches & elite competitors to listen, watch and learn from. Through this advancing her own coaching skills with many wonderful horses & clients of all breeds and levels to learn from.

She returned to Scotland in 2019 and was very fortunate to spend a lovely year at Gleneagles Equestrian School while she re-established herself back in Scotland after being away for 17 years.

Since returning she is now focused on coaching & schooling clients horses more than competing, she does hope to get back into more competing over the next year or so. Her coaching aims are that her clients and their horses relax & enjoy themselves. Working to improve confidence, relaxation, balance, suppleness & strength. Resulting in a better harmony between horse & rider.

She really is fantastic and such a yard favourite! Contact now to get a space!

Clear Round Show Jumping Wednesday 24th July!

Open to everyone, no need to enter. Simply turn up on the night, let us know the height you would like and jump!

£10 for the first round, £5 for each additional round. Rosette for every clear!

Very happy (and well behaved!) ponies on their final day of residential camp. It was so nice to see both the kids and ponies have a blast and blow the cobwebs away.

What a fabulous night we had last night!

Hamish was an absolute wealth of knowledge, answered so many questions and of course brought his humour!

Massive thank you to all of our demo horses, handlers and riders. So much effort was put in to really show off the do’s and don’t a of showing. We couldn’t put this on without you so thank you 🙏

And also huge thank you to everyone who came to support! It was an amazing turnout and we’re so glad you enjoyed yourselves 😊

Mini Camps!

As well as our big 4-day camps we now run mini camps! Perfect for younger children, anyone interested in joining our Pony Club and fancy a taster or those who are just too busy for a full 4-day camp!

Just as much fun in a smaller package!

Our two minicamp dates are:

23rd/24th July & 6th/7th August

What’s Happening in July?!

Tuesday 2nd July – Hamish Cameron Showing Demo!
New to the show ring? Unsure what should be in a show? Boggled by tack and turn out?!
Fear not! Hamish is here to help with it all! He really needs no introduction with over 30 years’ experience in teaching, competing and judging. He has shown successfully at the RHS in both ridden and in-hand classes and at Blair Castle.
He’ll talk you all through what to expect, how to turn out and how to show off your horse. There will be in-hand and ridden demos. A fabulous night for anyone looking at starting out, or those who might want to top tips!

£10 per person, entry can be paid on the night, starts at 6pm running till approx 8pm, bring your own chair. Cafe will be open for refreshments. If the weather is we’ll be out on grass, if it does change, we’ll head indoors!

Tuesday 9th July – Diana Zajda evening lessons!
Still spaces in 6pm and 7pm, just ask to book in!

Wednesday 10th July – Summer Show jumping league.

Well this is exciting… Wednesday 31st July Wills Oakden Eventing is coming to Pathhead!

For those lucky enough to be booked onto Camp 2, you will be getting lessons with Wills that day!

But we do have spaces for others who would like lessons!

Because of camp there is limited availability of Pathhead horses to borrow so please please please contact us before booking if you are wanting to use one of ours!

Outside horses & riders more than welcome! It’s open to all!

There will be no more than 4 in a lesson, lessons will be a mixture of flat and jumping, please specify on booking in the notes your preference and current schooling/jumping level so that we can group you with other similar riders 😊
