🐾🐶❤️ Meet Freddie 👋

Freddie is a whippet that came in for his puppy pack with vet Naomi R, this is him after his second vaccination with RVN Clare.

❓️Did you know our puppy pack includes: vaccination course, flea/worm treatment, health check, microchip (if not already done), 4 weeks free pet insurance and a few other little freebies and vouchers.

❓️Did you also know that our nurses can do lots of consults, such as certain injections, nail clips, weight checks and post op checks.

🫖☕️ Brewsday ☕️🫖

Yesterday (Monday 20th) is commonly known as Blues Monday, which is thought to be the most depressing day of the year.

Mental health is an important issue all around the world, and Veterinary Medicine is no stranger to this. In order to keep people talking, Brew Monday is celebrated every year on the third Monday of January.

Our wellbeing ambassador, Naomi Jones, brought in some fancy teas and biscuits for everyone to have a cuppa and a sit down during the day. Although we couldn't celebrate on the day, we had time to do this today, but better late than never!

#6 Dried Fruit

Beware of dried fruits like raisins and sultanas- they're toxic to pets and can cause kidney failure. A tiny snack for us could be a huge problem for them.

Keep festive fruitcakes and treats far away!

If you think/know your pet has eaten something toxic then please call the practice for advice.

Due to the Christmas period, we won't be able to order in any medications between Tuesday 24th December and Monday 30th December.

If you are going to need medication over the festive period, please make sure to order before Monday 23rd for most medications. If your pet is on a controlled drug or similar than place your order before Friday 20th for the best chance of delivery.

Today, our lovely student nurse Clare found out she passed her OSCE's (practical exams), so she is now officially a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)!!!

We look forward to working with her as an RVN and sending her huge congratulations on this milestone!

🤩 15 YEARS 🤩

Our Clinical Director Naomi Roberts joined Holly House Veterinary Surgery 15 years ago today!

Here she is enjoying cuddles with Tigger who has been a patient here for nearly 14 of those years 🥳🎉😍

Many things have changed in those years but Naomi still loves being a vet and looking after so many special furry friends. She had this to say:

“It’s been an amazing 15 years, I’ve loved being part of Holly House for all of this time and will continue to be so, thank you to all of the amazing team past and present who have put up with me and of course all of our wonderful clients and patients!”

🌎THINKING ABOUT TAKING YOUR PET ON HOLIDAY?🌍

Getting an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is an essential step for your pet to travel abroad. Here’s how you can apply:

✈️Contact Your Vet: Schedule an appointment with your vet at least 1 month before you travel, longer if possible. Your vet needs to be an Official Veterinarian (OV) authorised to issue AHCs. Here at Holly House we have vet, Naomi J, who is authorised to issue AHCs.

✈️Ensure Vaccinations Are Up to Date: Your pet must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination or it will need to be given at the latest 21 days before travel.

✈️Health Check: During the appointment, your vet will perform a health check and ensure your pet meets all travel requirements.

✈️Get the AHC Issued: Once issued by your vet you have 10 days maximum to enter the EU; after this the AHC is not valid. Once you have entered the EU you have 4 months for onward travel within the EU or re-entry to Great Britain.

At Holly House, we want to make cats feel as safe as possible. Don’t forget when you bring your cat to us, to sit in our Cosy Cat Corner. Help to make them feel more comfortable by placing your cat carrier on a higher surface and covering the carrier with one of the blankets provided 😸
