Today, our lovely student nurse Clare found out she passed her OSCE's (practical exams), so she is now officially a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)!!!

We look forward to working with her as an RVN and sending her huge congratulations on this milestone!

🤩 15 YEARS 🤩

Our Clinical Director Naomi Roberts joined Holly House Veterinary Surgery 15 years ago today!

Here she is enjoying cuddles with Tigger who has been a patient here for nearly 14 of those years 🥳🎉😍

Many things have changed in those years but Naomi still loves being a vet and looking after so many special furry friends. She had this to say:

“It’s been an amazing 15 years, I’ve loved being part of Holly House for all of this time and will continue to be so, thank you to all of the amazing team past and present who have put up with me and of course all of our wonderful clients and patients!”

🌎THINKING ABOUT TAKING YOUR PET ON HOLIDAY?🌍

Getting an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is an essential step for your pet to travel abroad. Here’s how you can apply:

✈️Contact Your Vet: Schedule an appointment with your vet at least 1 month before you travel, longer if possible. Your vet needs to be an Official Veterinarian (OV) authorised to issue AHCs. Here at Holly House we have vet, Naomi J, who is authorised to issue AHCs.

✈️Ensure Vaccinations Are Up to Date: Your pet must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination or it will need to be given at the latest 21 days before travel.

✈️Health Check: During the appointment, your vet will perform a health check and ensure your pet meets all travel requirements.

✈️Get the AHC Issued: Once issued by your vet you have 10 days maximum to enter the EU; after this the AHC is not valid. Once you have entered the EU you have 4 months for onward travel within the EU or re-entry to Great Britain.

At Holly House, we want to make cats feel as safe as possible. Don’t forget when you bring your cat to us, to sit in our Cosy Cat Corner. Help to make them feel more comfortable by placing your cat carrier on a higher surface and covering the carrier with one of the blankets provided 😸

🌞Summer Safety🌞

We are finally getting some sun ☀️ but remember exercising in temperatures over 20 degrees can be a risk to fit healthy dogs 🐕 the risk is higher for elderly, obese, flat-faced and large breeds ⚠️🌡️

Also remember to keep your furry friend safe by walking them during cooler times of the day - first thing in the morning or later on at night 🌤️

Make sure to provide plenty of fresh water 💧
