🎆🐾 Fireworks are Coming (again!): Let’s Keep Our Pets Calm & Safe! 🐾🎆

As fireworks light up the skies again, many pets can find the loud bangs and bright flashes overwhelming. Here are some tips to help your furry friends stay relaxed:

1️⃣ Prepare a Safe Space: Create a cosy, quiet spot where your pet can retreat.
2️⃣ Soothing Sounds: Play calming music or leave the TV on to mask the noise.
3️⃣ Stay Calm: Pets pick up on our emotions - stay relaxed and offer comfort.
4️⃣ Speak to Your Us: If your pet suffers from firework phobia, we can help with advice or appropriate treatments like calming supplements or pheromone diffusers.

💡 Plan ahead. Let's make it less stressful for everyone - book an appointment to discuss your pet's needs.

🐶🐱💖 Your pet's comfort is our priority! Call us at 01565 337999 for advice and products tailored for noise phobias.

We are aware there may be a Kennel Cough outbreak in the area.

The main symptoms of Kennel Cough are; a hacking cough (this can sound like there is something stuck in their throat) and coughing up white mucus.

If your dog is bright, eating, drinking and playing as normal the cough should get better on its own without the need for a visit to the vet.

To help your dog, make sure your home is well-ventilated and use a harness rather than a collar if you need to take them on a walk.

If you need to come to the surgery for an appointment, we will ask you to wait in your car until we are ready to see you. In some cases, we may choose to examine your dog at your car to keep the spread of infection to a minimum.

🐝Sam our receptionist has been keeping bees since 2020!

''I was furloughed from my job during lockdown and volunteered to help a local beekeeper with their hives. I also helped him provide education courses and continue to do this now.

This year I collected 3 swarms who have done well and are very healthy. They are very rewarding to look after (apart from the stings!). I am undertaking my BBKA (British Beekeepers Assosciation) Basic Assessment currently which will allow me to access more specialised and advanced modules🍯''

🐝FUN FACT🐝: Workers live for about 6 weeks in summer but 6 months in winter. Queen bees can live for 5 years.

🌸What do you like to do outside of work?
- I enjoy horse riding, hockey and can sometimes be found helping on the farm with my partner🐄

Bruno's Story 🐻

Bruno came to our vet Rachel with a snotty nose, sneezing and generally feeling a bit under the weather ☔ After further investigation, it was revealed that he had a fungal infection in his nose, otherwise known as Aspergillus 🦠

Aspergillus can be tricky to treat but we're pleased to report that after two rounds of topical treatment instilled in the nasal cavity under general anaesthetic (and a bit of TLC from all at Knutsford Vets), Bruno has made a full recovery! ❤️‍🩹
