Meet Doug the dog! ๐Ÿถ

After a run-in with a motorbike before Christmas, Doug suffered a dislocated hip.

Despite our best efforts to reposition it, his hip wouldn't stay in place, so surgery became necessary.

Vets Fionn and Frances performed a hip toggle procedure to secure it properly. Doug has a few weeks of rest left ahead of him before he's back to his duties on the farm ๐Ÿšœ.

Well done, Doug โ€“ youโ€™re a real trooper! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Has Your Pet Overindulged This Festive Season? ๐Ÿฆด๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ—

We know the holidays can mean extra treats for your furry friend, but if youโ€™re noticing a few extra pounds, weโ€™re here to help! For personalized advice and guidance on managing your petโ€™s weight, give us a call today and book a consultation with one of our experienced nurses. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

Here are some tips to help your pet shed those extra pounds and get back to their best:

๐Ÿ’ก Weight Management Tips for Your Pet:

Portion Control: Measure their food based on the recommended guidelines to avoid overfeeding. Say goodbye to free-feeding! ๐Ÿฅฃ
Limit Treats: Treats are fun, but try to limit them and choose healthier alternatives like carrots or apple slices! ๐Ÿฅ•
Regular Exercise: Keep your pet active with daily walks, interactive toys, or play sessions. Letโ€™s make fitness fun! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽพ
Balanced Diet: Ensure their diet is suited to their age, size, and activity level for optimal health. ๐Ÿพ
No Table Scraps: Keep those holiday leftovers away from your petโ€”human food can be too rich and fatty for their digestion. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ
Let's keep our pets healthy and happy in the New Year! ๐ŸŽ‰

Foods on our naughty list should be kept well out of paws' reach! Items on our nice list can be enjoyed in small amounts๐Ÿพ

Be cautious when introducing anything new to your pet as any new food can cause a dietary upset particularly if your pet has any special dietary needs that may make some of the foods listed unsuitable for them.

If you're unsure about any of the foods listed, always speak to your vet!

Eifion has worked at Aeron Vets for a grand total of 38 years! He graduated from Glasgow in 1982.

There isn't a farm he hasn't been to and he is familiar with the corners of many a field; foaling mares, calving cows and lambing sheep.

We have been lucky to have the benefit of his experience for the best part of 4 decades and are hoping his "retirement" means he will reduce his work rate to that of a normal human!

In the little free time he has had, Eifion enjoys walking his dogs in the local area, reading, watching rugby and and spending time with his family.

We look forward to seeing what else he can achieve in the garden with his spare time and await with interest whether his sheep flock expands!
