Something a little different…….

It was a privilege and an honour to assist Police Scotland’s Mounted Unit at Holyrood last week for the Queen’s final journey and service held in Edinburgh. The horses looked absolutely spectacular and everyone did a brilliant job. It was amazing to see them in action. Well done team!!

🐴🐴MESSAGE TO ALL CLIENTS 🐴🐴

Subject to tonight’s announcements from both the prime minister and first minister, I will continue to shoe your horses but some changes are now in place.

All horses must be left in with headcollar on for me to shoe on my own. Any horses that require to be held will have to wait until this 3 week period has passed unless a complete emergency arises, i.e, laminitic attack, abscess, twisted shoe.

Cash will still be accepted but should be left in a plastic bag in a safe place.

If everyone does their bit and limits contact for the next three weeks, we will get through this quicker!

Thank you for your understanding and your business.

🐴🐴 A message to my clients 🐴🐴

During these difficult times I am following the advice of the Farriers registration council (FRC) and the Worship Company of Farriers (WCF), and of course the government.

At present I will continue to shoe as normal and honour appointments booked in. Please be patient as I may need to make changes so to accommodate everyone. I may, where possible, try and bring appointments forward if a total lockdown is imminent but as you are aware, my diary is prebooked and pretty full. I will do my best to accommodate everyone.

As long as your horse isn’t dangerous and doesn’t need held, I’m happy to help myself as long as they are in the stable, easily accessible and good to catch. I will be following the social distancing guidelines and expect my clients to do the same. There is no need for me to have any human contact or close interaction when going about my daily rounding. If paying by cash, there is no problem leaving the money in a safe place. If paying by bank transfer, please ensure payment is made prior to shoeing as I will have limited time to chase up payments.

Until it is illegal for me to carry on my business, I will, on the grounds of animal welfare continue to prevent suffering to horses by keeping your horses feet maintained. If I develop symptoms of course I will have to stop for a while.

All the best and stay safe.
