A lovely morning for a quick ride out in our beautiful countryside, before the work started of moving the horses to a different field.
Many hands made light work of taking down our track system we have used all winter for our liveries and then moving the horses to our "camping field" in order to graze that off for summer.
The horse were very happy with this! 😀🐴
The video of the gateway gives you a good view of entry into this field if you are considering bringing vehicles and horses to stay and camp. Even 7.5t boxes can access safely 👍

Happy National Trails Day!

Celebrated on the first Saturday in June each year, is a day to celebrate everything that’s amazing about National Trails and the amazing bridleway system we have around Rawlinshaw Farm

Even though the weather is a bit miserable today, we hope to be out on trails today. We are so grateful to have these on our doorstep and have the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and all the Pennine Way National Trail workers and rangers looking after them for us!

So today let's celebrate these wonderful trails 👣 🐴🚲

Lovely mention by Hannah of Lakes and Dales Horseback Rambler
when she wrote an article for Northern Horse Magazine to feature some off road riding routes.Thank you Hannah

She highlighted what we call "The Crummock Ride"
and added on the routes we call "Over the Nick and The Washdubs", all of which we have links to if you stay with us.

When we used to be a trekking centre, all these amazing routes made our location perfect and today means riders coming to Rawlinshaw Farm can pick and choose different options, add on extra bits or make routes shorter, depending on what each rider wants. So spoilt by so many inter-linking bridleways to choose from ❤️
So, if you want to come and stay with us, either in our "cottage" or on our camping field, then do get in touch.
We are even considering "Park & Ride" options where you can park safely and set off on quite bridleways straight from your field. 🐴

After watching a BBC post on the dwindling numbers of Lapwings in the UK today, I started thinking about the wonderful birds we have here at Rawlinshaw Farm
We have so many Rooks, and Jackdaws. If you stay here at Rawlinshaw, you will certainly hear them at dawn and dusk as they come into roost. But we are also lucky to have Oystercatchers (who are on the Amber list of conservation concern) and also the Curlew (on the red list), with its wonderful bird call.
And every year we are joined by our swollows when they return home after their long flight from Africa.
We even have our own bird of pray. So keep your eyes open to the sky's when you are here, there is much to see 🐦🐦‍⬛

What a lovely evening last night. As I have been asked for photos of river crossings, I thought I would take a bit of video of my ride last night.
We are just so lucky with the amazing horse riding routes we have here at Rawlinshaw Farm and the are out 😀

And that's a wrap for 2025 🐑
This little lady was a 1st time mum, who was due today. She managed all on her own in the beautiful sunshine, exact to the day. Our only pure lambs this year but both correctly marked.
And now we can get a bit more sleep and watch as this years lambs grow, thrive and play 😄
