I have received a complaint today about someone/people grooming their dog(s) at the field. I have been sent a video and message which shows a large amount of fur at the field this morning.
This is not the first time this has happened and I would insist that users DO NOT groom their dogs whilst using the facility as other dogs can potentially pick up the fur and the excerpt below from Google explains why it shouldn't be done because of risks involved.
"You should not groom a dog at a dog field due to the presence of external parasites, and the lack of a controlled environment for sensitive tasks like bathing or clipping. Grooming also creates a mess..
Parasites: A dog's coat provides a barrier against external parasites like fleas and ticks. Shaving or even brushing can release these parasites, which can then transmit diseases more easily to other dogs using the field.
Hygiene: Fur left behind after grooming can accumulate and become unsightly, and it can be a source of parasites or other allergens for other dogs in the field.
Chemicals: Using products like flea and tick treatments in a public area may lead to chemical contamination, which could be a risk to other animals in the field.
In summary, it is best to groom your dog at home or in a professional grooming salon. A dog field is not the right place for grooming because it can expose your dog and others to a number of risks, from injuries and parasites to sun exposure and potential disease transmission."
Thank you...
