What a view today!

Sorry the grass is a bit long, the weather was not playing ball this year and getting it cut was a complete chore!! It’s just not been dry enough to get a Final Cut before the winter. I can go in there on a dry day but it will just become a muddy mess.

So 💩 will get lost, I can only apologise if there are some strays as I have lost a few myself. Please if you see a poo, pretty please could you grab it for us.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️HALF PRICE OFFER ⭐️⭐️⭐️

First 3 people to message will get 50% off a 1 hour slot - must be booked for tomorrow only.

There is hope in the horizon for some doggie walks tomorrow… the road at the bottom of the track is very low level water now compared to this afternoon. You can get in safely from Fordoun and along to us with no huge puddles.

Powburn under the bridge is flooded and Laurencekirk to us is flooded twice- at haulkerton and at the junction below us so do not attempt that route. The field will be soggy so wellies are a must.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Labrador get together⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was asked today if we do lab get together a. Answer is no, but never say no to a request. So here is my question…

Would anyone be interested in getting together with other Labrador owners? If so would a day/ time suit you better. I will
Maybe put up a poll once I know if there is interest.

if anyone has another breed they would like to meet with them please let me know and I’m happy to do a few different ones.

Please note-
Dogs must be sociable with other people/ dogs
Females must not be in season
You enter the field in an organised event at your own risk.

Grass is being cut as I type this morning so if you are booking the field the little tractor will be going round for a couple of hours. Please try to keep your dogs away from the car for where possible but it’s a great way to tire them out.

Once it’s been cut once it will be cut every week so the time it will be cut will get blocked off in the bookings calendar.

💩 ATTENTION DOG OWNERS 💩

It has been brought to our attention today that there is a lot of stray p**p 💩 in our field. Please make sure you pick up after your dog. Although we appreciate you may miss one now and again, someone else may be courteous and pick it up for you so we would appreciate if you see a stray one to also please pick it up. If you see a few then please let us know as unless we are told we cannot fix the problem.
If you have multiple dogs then please maybe let one out at a time till they have done their business.

***WE ARE OPEN***

Laurney Lodge is open for bookings. We are in the process of putting social distance measures in place for when it’s busy next week but dogs can still come in safely at the moment.

Unfortunately due to the current situation, customers cannot come down to the hotel or up to our reception area.
For the time being you will drop your dog off in our isolation run until our holding kennels are finished being built hopefully in the next week or 2. We will take your dog/dogs down to hotel along with belongings. We ask that you only bring one toy and if you wish to bring their own bed it MUST be small enough to fit in the washing machine and we will wash on arrival and departure. Your dogs will also be washed or wiped down with a damp cloth or arrival and departure.

Only one person/ family can enter the driveway at any one time so you will only have a half hour allocated drop off/collection slot. Unfortunately if you are late you will have to wait for the next available slot to allow us to keep everyone safe. You will be asked to sanitise on arrival and departure. Sanitizer will be supplied.

The gates will be closed at all times so please call the number on arrival and they will be opened for you. If there is a car in the driveway then please just park in the grass area on left as you pass the gates until your time slot.

Hopefully this is all just a temporary measure and things will go back to normal as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you all and your dogs soon! We have missed our furry friends ❤️ 🐾

Please share so as many of our customers see this.

***WE ARE OPEN***

Lots of people have been messaging to ask if the field is open. So thought I would just pop a message on here to let everyone know that yes, we are open. There will be hand sanitizer at the gate so please use it before you enter the field and after you leave. The gate is wiped down every day anyway. If you have children please also have them use it too if they are going into the hut to draw

Please do not remove the sanitizer.
All the toys and equipment have also been cleaned in the hut but please use at your own risk.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A TICK AND REMOVE IT..

• Ticks are blood sucking parasites that attach to, and feed on pets.

• Ticks that are removed quickly and correctly, don’t usually cause problems, but if their head/mouth parts are left behind after removal, infection can sometimes develop.

• Some ticks can carry (and transmit), nasty diseases such as Lyme Disease.

• Preventing ticks is easy - there are lots of products that repel and kill them.

Ticks are most common in long grass, woodland and moorland areas. They are also common in areas with lots of wildlife and farm animals because they can live on animals, such as sheep, foxes, hedgehogs and wild rabbits. Ticks are most common when the weather is warm (between spring and autumn).

IDENTIFYING A TICK

• Ticks are small, round, often shiny and can be black, pink, purple or bluish grey.

• They have a very small head and a large body that can grow up to 1cm as they feed.

• Ticks are often mistaken for a skin tags or lumps, but if you look closely you will see their legs close to where they attach to the skin.

HOW TO REMOVE A TICK

Ticks should be removed as soon as possible. Never remove a tick by pulling, crushing or squeezing - they have a large body and a small head which attaches to the skin, if you pull the tick you are likely to leave the head behind which can cause an infection.

• Slide a tick twisting tool under the tick, as close to the skin as possible.*

• Make sure the tick is held firmly inside the hook. Use a smaller hook if it feels loose.

• Twist the tool two to three times in one direction until you feel the tick loosen from your pet. DO NOT PULL THE TICK - it will let go when you twist.

• Slowly lift the tool away when you feel the tick loosen, it should stay trapped in the hook.

After removing the tick, clean the area and monitor your pet for any signs of illness. If you’re unsure about removing the tick yourself, contact your vet for help.

*You can use normal tweezers but be very careful to hold the tick as close to the skin as possible

WHEN TO CONTACT YOUR VET

Most pets don’t need any treatment once a tick has been correctly removed. But if you’re worried that you may have left any of it behind after removal, it’s best to contact your vet for advice. You should also contact your vet if your pet’s skin looks sore, infected or is very itchy.

Some ticks in the UK can also carry diseases such as Lyme disease (Borreliosis). Common signs of Lyme Disease include:

• Limping, stiffness and swollen joints that shifts between legs

• Fever (high temperature)

• Low energy (lethargy)

• Swollen lymph nodes (glands) around the body.

If you’re worried your pet may have Lyme Disease, book an appointment with your vet.

Find out whether you are eligible for free or low cost PDSA veterinary treatment by using our checker.

PREVENTING TICKS

There are lots of different ways to prevent ticks such as:

• Tick collars, tablets or spot-on products.

• Some flea treatments kill and repel ticks.

• Stick to paths or open spaces - avoid long grass.

• Avoid places known for ticks (find out if ticks are common in your area).

• Regularly check your pet for ticks after walks, they are most common on the head, ears, armpits and belly.

• If you’re going to a new place, or taking your pet on holiday with you, check how common ticks are in that area.

CAN HUMANS GET TICKS?

Yes, although ticks can’t live on humans, they can still bite and feed on us, which can cause irritation, infection and disease. Ticks can also transmit diseases such as Lyme Disease (Borreliosis), although this is rare. If you find a tick on yourself or someone else and you have concerns, it is best to contact your vet.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE

Unleashed is still open so if you are worried about walking in public areas then here is the place you will be safe and alone with no risk of bumping into the public.

We unfortunately can not get hold of any hand sanitizer to leave at the gate so please make sure you bring your own so you can wash your hands before entering and after leaving the field. We will be wiping the handle and door handle and honesty box in the hut as much as we possibly can every day but it’s hard to get in when people are in all the time.

The jumps have been getting blown over a bit so I will be in pe***ng those down again today and I’ll fill up the water too. I will also be restocking the treats so you can buy some treats to entice them over those jumps. Make sure you take some pictures and post to the page please! I have attached one I took yesterday or the beautiful Alfie and indy!

Enjoy the field and please if there are any issues don’t hesitate to call me

Please check your junk mail when booking the field. The email with the link to access the code 9 times out of 10 is going straight to junk. It can take a wee while to come through though but please be patient.

Please also take care when typing your email address in at time of booking as if it’s wrong you will not receive the email. PayPal will work but only the payment is done through PayPal.

I cannot give out the code via txt, email or Facebook in advance so you will have to call when at the gate if you do not receive the code. I always do my best to answer the phone but I’m not always available when required so apologies in advance if you lose some time in the field.
Please contact me prior to your booking by phone preferably so I know when to expect you to call
Many thanks

Unfortunately one of the ramps has been damaged. It’s been put on its side till
Monday till we get it fixed and moved. Please DO NOT climb on it or try to put it back up as it’s not fixed and will likely topple over.

Please can you all please refrain from climbing on the equipment and please don’t let children Climb on it either. The equipment is for dogs only. It clearly states on the rules and regulations at the gate entrance than you use the equipment at your own risk so please be sensible. We don’t want your furry friends getting injured!

There is a camera there so we can see what’s going on and who is climbing on the ramps!
