Next up we have Scrippy, he raced in league singles division 6 at the UK Flyball League Championships in August. Racing his little pawz off and coming 3rd!π₯³π₯³π₯³ After not long joining the team Script could just do everything! Hes been a fantastic dog to train, and
Lives to please! This was his first ever champs competing after coming last year and doing a pc slot and we are sure it certainly won't be his last! He's now going to take a bit of time away from comps to really work on perfecting a nice high and snappy turn. We are really proud of him and his handler and can't wait to see him lining up on the mats in a team! He ran a best time of 3.99 l2l and is only one or two dogs in our club to run sub 4!!! πππ
Out next big shout out goes to Lexie!
Lex joined Scorchin' Pawz when we first became Scorchin' just over 10 years ago!!
She's been with us from the start. Training on grass at Harbury rugby club and competing outside with the BFA. Training with us inside at henley in arden during the winter months, then moving to full time indoor training and racing for UKFL. She stayed with us when we moved to our new venue at Warwickshire college. Shes also trained and competed with our good friends Trailblazers Flyball team .
Lex started off with just one handler, Dale, but soon Janette also joined the team, who loved to box load for Lex β€οΈβ€οΈ
Shes been part of our successful league team over many years and has helped many new young dogs develop. She was part of our league team who won their division at last year's UK Flyball League Championships and this year she had one last race before hanging up her racing pawz. β€οΈβ€οΈ Our team captain has always had a soft spot this occasionally naughty Merley collie, and has ran her at training on numerous occasions. We wish you all the best for your retirement Lex, you certainly deserve it πβ€οΈ
π₯πΎ UKFL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024 πΎπ₯Scorchin Pawz are at the UKFL championships 2024 and here is what weβre bringing to the competitionβ¦..
We want to wish Artie a massive happy 7th birthday! π₯³π₯³ We canβt wait to see what you achieve this year π
π LOKI πYesterday marked 1 year since we lost one of our up and coming dogs. Our thoughts are with his handlers on this difficult day ππLoki was one of the quickest learners we have ever trained. He just got flyball and was extremely good at it! Increadibly focused with a lovely box turn. One comp he was competing in a pc slot, then we needed the a dog for the team and he just stepped up an took everything in his stride! He absolutely smashed it! He adored his handlers and would do anything for them ππ the whole team miss Loki ππ
Unfortunately our beloved team dog Maisey went over rainbow bridge this weekend. So our thoughts are with Jen and her family ππMaisey was our height dog and our start dog for our team for many years. Leading us to many divisional wins, including, 1st at the Championships in 2014, and 2nd at the Championships in 2015. She also raced at the European Championships in 2016 where we broke out of our division so unfortunately couldn't be placed. She was an integral part of the team for many many years ππ. Being a spaniel she had her quirks, she would most certainly always poo π© in the Ring, even if she had been toileted beforehand. She loved to work for a tennis ball as she was also a trained sniffer dog, and the tennis ball was her reward πΎ. Run free Maisey, go and enjoy your time with your mum and your team, Jazz, Skye, Hugo, Marley and Ebb πππ
Wishing our Ren a massive belated happy birthday for last week π₯³π #birthday #flyballteam #bordercollie #flyball #flyballdog #team #scorchinpawz
Wishing Bailey a massive happy 3rd birthday today!! π₯³π₯³
π₯πΎ INTRODUCING BEAR πΎπ₯. What can I say about our lovable spaniel Bear π» Hes been training with us since being a pup, and absolutely adores his handler Ellie.... so much so.... he only really likes to work for her ππ luckily Ellie has been doing an absolutely fabulous job with him and he's turning into a great flyball dog! He's also got a bit of a cheeky side and always likes to investigate a new dog and make friends especially if it's a girl ππ He loves his tuggy! Which isn't very common with spaniels, not for the others in our team anyway! We can wait to see him progress further and see his debut hitting the lanes πWe also want to wish him a massive happy 1st birthday today π₯³ #flyball #flyballteam #flyballdog #spaniel #workingcockerspaniel #birthday
This weekend we saw Pebbles progress to the box, with a ball! She has a beautiful turn which we are very proud of ππ»π and absolutely smashed it this weekend! Massive well done to her and San! Won't be long before she's racing!!! #scorchinpawzflyball #scorchinpawz #flyball #flyballdogs #flyballteam #bordercollie #flyballtraining #team #dogs #dog
π₯πΎ Storm Chasers Competition 06.07.2024 πΎπ₯ Scorchinβ Rockets have competed again and set the racetrack at Oswestry ablaze. The teamβs line up consisted of our competition regulars Rave, Penny and Millie. Completing the team were Script and Artie in a previously untested competition combination. This outing has marked Scriptβs first time competing in the Scorchinβ Rockets league team and today he has proven himself more than ready for it. With a breathtakingly rapid time of 4.01, he makes for a speedy addition to the Scorchinβ Rockets squad. Script and his handler Tavia deserve special recognition for their inspiring debut on the racetrack. The team are pleased to have placed third in their division, but the real triumph of the day was the confident performance Rave, Penny, Millie, Script and Artie have put on today, which leaves much to look forward to in competitions to come.A special achievement for the team was longstanding member Artie completing seven clean runs in a competition setting, making for a great comeback to Flyball league racing, and the entire team are very glad to have him back. With Artieβs help, the team logged a stunning day-best-time of 19.60 against their name, proving once again that persistence and hard work will pay off eventually. Huge credit should go to his handler Ali for her discipline and confidence! At the same time, Oswestry has shown how Spaniel Penny has cemented her status as one of the teamβs most reliable dogs. Neither the spontaneously changing team line-ups, nor the number of competitions in short succession gave her cause to waver. With consistently cleanly executed runs, and by sporting a reliably steady race time, Penny has become an invaluable Scorchinβ Rocket team member, able to complete any squad, no matter what competition venue.Another competition, another strong showing from the team. We canβt wait to see what the Champs will bring in a monthβs time. Music: O

This is a rather long one!
So last weekend we also had a league team racing at owestry. We were seeded last in our division. Unfortunately Decker our super speedy collie injured his pads the week prior and therefore couldn't join the team π this meant we had 4 dogs, one of which (Parker) was new to team racing but has done amazingly at training. However both him and Penny have the same handler. We'd practiced once at training having another handler hold one of them whilst the other ran and it went quite well, but we didn't get chance to practice in a full team line up π.. Parker got measured and we think this blew his little mind, bless him, he's not the most confident dog and isn't a massive fan of change. . . But we thought we'd see what we could do.
Race one Rave, Penny, Evvie, Parker
Rave ran paw perfect, Penny decided jumps were optional both to the box and back after having a sniff of her lead before running up π Evvie ran perfectly too, Parker was last dog, he ran up beautifully but decided jumps were optional on the return. This continued for the 3 heats π
Second race, Rave, Penny, Evvie, Parker
We did warm up with wings for Parker to try to encourage him to go over the jumps on the return and he still ran around them on the way back. But we thought we'd give him one more try. Rave, Penny and Evvie all ran perfectly in all 3 heats, Parker ran down well, but again decided the jumps were optional on the return.
Race 3 we had to come up with another plan....We had put Artie on the paper work just in case. He had ran so well in league singles the previous day, we thought we'd bring him out and give him a try. He would need to run 4th dog (he is usually first) and has done pairs but not much team training as we are working really hard on his chasing. But we figured as we were bottom of our division with Decker, without him we would be quite a bit slower than the other teams anyway. So it would be likely Artie wouldn't be running head to head a
Rave also had a singles spot at Storm Chasers Flyball Team owestry comp yesterday. Mr reliable, Mr consistent and Mr Perfect, ran paw perfect all day ππ with a l2l time of 4.24seconds. Today he is running in a league team and running well so far! One race to go π

Today some of the team were at Owestry competition held by Storm Chasers Flyball Team. We haven't been to one of their shows for a while! Its a fab venue with lots of lovely teams! And well hosted! Today Artie and Rave had league singles.
Artie (Cheese π§) if you've followed his journey you will know we have had issues with his reward and him chasingπ after countless pcs with stooge dogs, and lots of practice racing in little league. Building up his trust and his reward (cheese π§π§) a reward that he wants to to work for, building his handlers confidence in him, and lots of patience, dedication and practice. He has only gone an ran paw perfect in open singles!! (Bar a little hiccup in his warmup) and bagged himself second place!! Running a fastest time l2l 4.72
He was also being released by a different handler today, who may or may not have let him down with a few of her starts ππππ Very proud of him and his owner for never giving up. ππ a saying a little girl taught me this week instead of saying "I can't " say.." I can't do it yet" and here's the proof πππ

Here's Ringo! He really has come on leaps and bounds with all aspects of flyball..... bar picking up a ball! πππ We were all extremely happy with him yesterday!
We've tried to get him to pick a ball up for weeks, hard ones, squidgy, foam, black, furry, yesterday we tried to get him to pick one of his toys up from the box, to just try and get him to pick something up! Then had a thought ' I wonder if he'll pick up his tuggyπ€' and bingo!!! The tuggy on the Bix is his tuggy and he much prefers it to the orange and black one as you can see! πππ
