Halloween has come and gone! Half term is over and with it, our sand pit and pen for Chance has been created, our hay barn is in daily use and we’ve had great fun with the Halloween Show, local Le Trec clinics, hacking, exploring and more!
Life at Silverlight Stables is feeling very Autumnal ! 🍁😜💪🏻🌻🎃###

ALL HAY AND HAYLAGE IS DEFICIENT...
.. in essential micronutrients including vitamins and minerals.

Horses and ponies who maintain condition on forage alone, or forage plus a handful of any feed in the bucket, need a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement.

For the list I recommend, see the link in the comments.

🍁🍁And Autumn is here….. 🎃
Not posted much as now we have our fully livery settled in, we’ve been prepping for Winter and I’ve been teaching loads including at the RDA. Hoping to make it through the Autumn and winter without getting too wet! Will post our progress photos soon as we convert the Orchard into a winter loafing area and prepare for the weather to come!! 🍁🍁🩵🚜💪🏻###

🥵 HOT! Now we’ve begun the summer routine, prepping the Orchard for new friends and to getting winter ready, making loads more jumps for a “jump field” (which needs a trim lol), feeding camomile and comfrey, plums growing, ducklings growing plus making fly spray! Summer is here! ☘️🌻💪🏻🥵💛🦄###

Six months of Squirrel at Silverlight Stables 💜🦄✨ What a sweet, cute, little pony, it’s going to be very quiet around here with you and your lovely family gone. Thank you for being part of our little herd, you guys were lovely - hopefully more adventures to come! Wilfred and Hamish really found a great friendship in Squirrel and everything fit perfectly but sadly we all decided together that you were a bit too green to stay long term with the herd here. Thank you for keeping us busy and making us laugh (at you) lots Mr Squirrel and wishing you the best of luck in your new home with lots of fun adventures ahead of you. The progress that you guys have made has been epic and I hope you just continue to flourish going forward! Good bye sweet pony! See you soon Grace and family and wishing you the best of luck! X x x.

Looking back at some of my equine memories here at HRH Equine, being blessed with riding some wonderful horses in the past and them helping me to learn and become the horsewoman I am today. In the last few months some dear friends have said goodbye to some of these legends and my heart just breaks for them but I’m so pleased I was part of a small bit of their journeys. It’s a life long passion and you’ll make mistakes and meet challenges but it’s a life I’d never change, despite the daily hard work and fact we’ll probably never get any holidays or “days off” like non-horsey people. I’d not change it for the world. Also loving that I keep the ba****ck passion alive throughout every horse! 😂 I’ve been speaking to previous clients from Surrey this week and so this is my little album for everything past, it’s got it’s place here in the tapestry of my future and the making towards this business and my life as an equestrian. I’m not in it for the sport, the medals, expensive tack, high jumps or fancy ponies, I’m here for the nose kisses, poo picking, sh💫💫shovelling and the eyes of an equine who truly sees into your soul. I treasure every moment and this post is to thank all those past memories that have grown with me to now. Doing what I love, every day and bringing passion, education and enthusiasm to the next generation of equines around me.
So don’t forget to follow your gut, be the unicorn in a field of racehorses…. You’ll see the happiness it brings! X❤️
Peace out and love to those who we’ve lost this year and those who keep going in the daily grind of Equestrianism! 🌈💫🦄X###

Not so great at using this profile as much anymore so head over to HRH Education for advertised Equine sessions and tutoring information.

However, in terms of daily horsey life here at Silverlight Stables we’ve got a new member of the gang: Layla, who “helps” with all our daily jobs, the herd is finally settled together and has been busy eating comfrey and helping to graze next doors land ready for the summer months.

The boys have been out and about, getting on well and adventuring round their new home town, plus we’ve had some very successful Equine Facilitated Learning Days and sessions, which run during the half terms and holidays.

We’re looking forward to offering these weekly from September 2024 so do get in touch if this interests you and you can be added to a group session.

So, despite the lack of posts here- we’re still on going but just easier to follow the sessions and schedules from our sister profile. I hope everyone has been making the most of the sun and having a horse load of fun!

Love from HRH Equine and the gang at Silverlight Stables. X 💛

Something I know many of us equine professionals struggle with is advocating for the horse when that horse isn't ours.
Meaning, we can stand up for what we believe is right - but the ultimate choice comes down to the owner to choose what to do with their horses.

This can become difficult and disheartening in hoof rehab and lameness cases. Many of us see horses that are struggling with soundness issues, whether overtly or more subtle, and have owners who want more than anything to be able to have a working partnership with their equine best friend. What do we do in these situations? Do we do something to allow a lame horse to be ridden despite internal damage? Do we step away or have a hard conversation? Do we let someone else do something in these cases that we don't feel right doing in order to let the horse be used?

Kendra Skorstad and I chat about this incredibly difficult topic - and this conversation was completely candid, unplanned and off-the-cuff, so expect some tangents and vulnerability. No matter where you fall on this topic, I hope this opens the thought process of where we may personally draw the line in our own hoofcare businesses, as well as with our own personal horses.

You can hear the entire conversation on any podcast app under "The Humble Hoof," or directly at this link: https://thehumblehoof.com/2024/03/10/ethics-in-lameness-cases/
