5 tips to optmise your stretching routine โ
Pick a programme - discuss with your physio, 3-5 stretches that are safe for you and the horse to perform to meet individual requirements. โ
Keep a routine - Helping your horse stretch at least 3 times a week. You will not see or feel results after the first time. Be patient and trust the process. โ
Time it correctly - Perform mobilisations before exercise and stretches after. โ
Change it up - Rotate through different stretches after each physio session. Helps to target different needs by your horse as they improve and develop. โ
Be safe - know your limits and your horses limits. Do not attempt or insist on performing stretches if/when a horse is anxious, fidgety, or otherwise not paying attention. Stretching is not something we can force to happen. It is imperative to take the time to develop a good routine with your horse so he begins to know what to expect and relaxes into the routine#horsemanship #eventing #vetphysio #showjumping #anglinequinephysio #tipsandtricks #equestrianlife #horse #horseyoga #ponypilates Thank you to Meg Gardiner and the wonderful Smokey for being top models ๐

Great day spent CPD training at Rose Holistic Therapies and Training. Excited to incorporate using the fascial edge tool into treatments along side other manual techniques and electrotherapy.

๐ซ๐ซ DIY treat-ball and encouraging stretches ๐ซ๐ซ Clever way to encourage movement and stretches without hand feeding treats. Great for when at shows, at home on box rest or just to change up your daily routine. When I was a travelling groom and grazing was limited, I found this a great way to give my horses treats and break up their day while encouraging them to move, stretch and mobilise their poll and neck. Although they got too good too quickly at this and would have the apple gone in 2 seconds ๐ซฃ๐ซฃ#anglinequinephysio #DIY #stretch #mobilise #movement #fun #horse #showjumping
