GROOMING DIABETIC DOGS 💕

Beaker is diabetic and so being groomed is outside her routine and standing on a table for a couple of hours being bathed, groomed, trimmed involves more energy than she is use to. Increased energy means drop in sugar levels so I make sure I monitor her very closely. Her owner brings her some food just encase it’s needed.

Lottie’s first groom today at 11 month’s and she did amazing!!! She had a bath, and general trim.
She has a beautiful soft coat.

Why NOT to Shave or Clipper a Spaniel??

Recommended Groom Type: Tidy OR hand strip.

NOTE: Spaniels are double coated.

• If you shave or clip this type of coat, the coat will grow back cottony and thicker. The coat will also matt easier and the overcoat may not grow back properly.

• This coat is an insulator; it is designed to keep the dog cool in summer and warm in winter. If you shave or clip the coat, the dog will no longer have a weatherproof coat. He/she will get hotter in summer and colder in winter.

We love a Pomeranian at Grooming Lovely!

A Pomeranian is what’s known as a double coated dog. This simply means that it has an inner layer of fur but also an outer layer of fur. The undercoat is what keeps your dog warm in the winter months and cool in the summer months. Please don’t shave them it spoils their coat.

H E A L T H I S W E A L T H

Many people ask me what made me go into dog grooming when I was in such a well paid profession being an accountant.

Running my own accounts practice was just too much continuous stress and it began to exacerbate my underlying mental health. It’s not the day-to-day activities that caused the stress its the tasks that lurk in the background that accumulate to cause problems. The buck stopped with me and so that placed a huge amount of responsibility on my shoulders. Because of that, I was a little bit more inclined to keep up to new legislation, answer emails in the evening or at weekends. I still do accounts but on a much smaller scale as my passion for dog grooming is now my priority.

I always wanted to work with animals from being very young I was just waiting for my time. It’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I love animals. I love the bond that’s formed and I love seeing furry companions go strutting out of the salon after their groom. I’m physically active and I don’t have to sit in front of a computer all day.

Blue is a very pretty pampered pooch. If you could see her eyelashes you would be jealous! She comes in for a groom every 6 weeks as her humans prefer her to be very short.
