Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a charity established in 1980 to provide a 'taste of the country' within the city boundaries. It provides educational services to disadvantaged young people and adults and offers environmental education to primary school children. It is a working farm with a wide variety of animals, amenity and market gardens and a range of natural habitats. Many of the animals can be

seen from close quarters and fresh farm eggs can be bought in the Farm Shop. There is a small play area for under 12s and the independently-run Barn Coffee Shop is also located on the Farm. In addition to the animals, there are several woodland walks including a longer walk into the Scott Hall Copse at the far end of the Farm.

The difference a few months can make!

Our site (and nature in general!) changes SO much throughout the seasons.
Getting out and exploring green spaces throughout the year can help you to notice these changes as they happen, and feel more connected to nature.

The farm is the perfect place to experience nature, not only because of its rich biodiversity... but also, there will always a warm hot chocolate to enjoy from

This weeks veg box was packed full of local and seasonal vegetables!

Eating seasonally often means produce is full of nutrients as it is picked at it's peak ripeness, as well it encourages us to eat a wider variety of fruit and vegetables which is great for your health (and delicious too!!)

We have been blanketed in snow and ice for the past couple of days, and although it has meant lots of extra work gritting all the paths it has been completely gorgeous to see the golden sunrises over the sparkling white fields.

There is so much beauty to discover on the farm, especially at the moment as it is transformed by the crisp bright weather, however if you are coming down to visit please do be careful on the ice and snow, and make sure to wrap up warm ❤

Please take care if you are visiting the Farm at the moment as it is very slippery. We have gritted as much as we can but there are still areas that are tricky so take care. We have closed the playground as there is very hard dangerous ice in there at the moment.

Unfortunately due to the strong wind gusts we will be closed to the public today and tomorrow (Saturday & Sunday) for safety reasons. Staff will still be on site to look after our animals. Please note that The Barn Coffee Shop will also be closed.
We are sorry for the inconvenience but as we have lots of trees on our site public safety has to be our priority. Please stay safe,

It’s looking like it’s going to be very windy again this weekend sadly with a Yellow Warning for Saturday and the wind gusts still really strong on Sunday.

This means that we will have to be closed to the public on both Saturday and Sunday unfortunately.

We really don’t like to have to close but given we are a farm with many trees we have to do this to keep everyone safe.

The Barn Coffee Shop will also be closed on both Saturday and Sunday too.

We are open today and tomorrow (Friday) so come on down!
