Hi everyone,
There is a journalism student in Leeds who would like to discuss what assistance dogs do for us. Is there anyone in the Leeds area willing to be interviewed by this student? If so message me direct and we can sort out the meeting. Thanks everyone and happy new year.

Hi there,
I just wanted to make you aware that Whitbread corporation (who own premier inn and beefeater), have confirmed today that they only accept aduk dogs.

As a training provider for assistance dogs who is not ADUK, I wanted to make you aware of this.

They have been sent to EHRC guidance for business and are doubling down despite this.

Someone has called to check this was not just one person saying it and they have confirmed.

I am contacting organisations such as yourselves to highlight the issue in the hope we can get it rectified so all handlers of assistance dogs, who are trained (regardless of by whom) get the equal access that the law requires, but which Whitbread are currently denying, which is especially galling as owner trained and privately trained assistance dog handler already have to pay to train their dogs as do not need additional barriers in their way for their working dogs.

Regards
Dr Kiah Hann, disabled veterinary surgeon and assistance dog handler.

My hope is that enough non aduk companies contact them, they may realise the error of their ways.

Thoughts of members required. please send me a response.

I have been discussing the subject of charitable status with the partner of one of our new members and would like to offer up the options moving forward for the group. To obtain charitable status the group needs to refine a governing document including listing key members with responsibilities and likely future trustees. There would need to be someone to deal with accounts and an assistant to counter sign any expenditure. At the moment we have no funds, none were handed over and with each member buying their own kit no funds have been needed other than arranging a sponsor to support our website for 12 months. The last month to be paid by the current sponsor is March 2023 and further sponsorship has not been arranged as one of our members is creating a new website which will not cost anything. If as a group we would like to move forward with charitable status I would like to hear what members think this would achieve and would need people interested in taking on committee roles. Please consider where funds would be generated and how funds would be used.
