Lambs still coming thick and fast…. the same cannot be said for sleep 😴🐑
‘Tony’ the first born lamb of this year spends considerable amounts of time ingratiating himself with all willing female lambs - we’ll be keeping an eye on him!

Brief lull between the first and second lot of lambers but we’re well underway again now 🐑🐏
We managed to get nearly thirty cows out to grass at the weekend, as much as we love them they were glad to see the back of us and the sheds! 🐮

The girls have come into the shed in preparation for lambing & just in time looking at the weather! They’re looking fantastic & we’re very excited to see what the lambs from their new man are like! 🐑

We’ve been trying to get a nice photo of this years calves for days - it seems cooperation is a term they are yet to be familiarised with 🐮😆 This was the best we could do, only a handful agreed to be present for the photo, and half of those offered us either their rear end or hid behind a post 🙄😜

Bit of a rotten end to the year - we’ve been burgled of a very significant amount of items of high value last night at 11pm. The thieves gained access to our sheds from Bankhouse Lane by cutting chains on gates, crossing fields and knocking down dry stone walls and fencing. This was clearly pre planned, so if anyone saw a number of vehicles on our fields last night, or anyone ‘lurking’ we would really appreciate any info being passed on to either us or the police.

On a brighter note - we’d like to wish you all a very Happy New Year, and prosperous 2022! 🐮

If we’d known we only had to moan on Facebook about lack of calves to get things going, then we’d have done it a week ago! Very busy last few days in the shed, and some very happy mums! 😁

We’re serving eviction notices on all of our calves due to be born 🐮 The cows were due a couple of weeks ago, and so far not a sign of anything! Hoping they get a shift on before Christmas 🎄🤞🏻

Really, REALLY important for us to say a HUGE thank you to all of our customers, followers and supporters at the moment - you are all amazing 🤩
I’m sure you’ve seen in the news that the British pig industry is in dire crisis at the moment. We took some excess pigs to the market yesterday morning, it takes us roughly 12 months to produce each and every pig. Each pig costs us around £2.20 every day to feed, bed and water (no labour costed). A year ago we would feel grateful to receive £120-£135 per pig at market. I have posted the prices we received yesterday below 😞 Our prices were probably around average yesterday.

So THANK YOU to everyone who supports us and buys directly, our pigs would not be here without you! The financial implications of the current prices are worrying, but even more sad is how little our pigs lives are valued at. Please, if you can, source your food locally, responsibly & sustainably - you are helping to support family businesses, the planet & your local economies 🤞🏻

The cows came into the shed a couple of weeks ago, they’re due to calve any time now 🐮 Absolutely delighted with how well they look this year 😁 Today our 3 bulls also came into their shed, there’s a lot of peeping over the wall at the cows happening 😆 The younger cattle will stay out for as long as weather and grass availability permits 🐮
