🚜Swithens Farm is a working farm & petting farm, with outdoor and indoor play areas.
🍽️Cafe serving hot & cold food.

What to do on our farm :
Bottle feed the lambs and Calves as set times in the small animal barn area (April til September )
Feeding is normally around 11 & 3 starting with the lambs, with

a single lamb feed at 1pm. Check our daily what's on or speak to a member of staff. Come & hand feed the Cows, Sheep, Donkeys, Llamas, Goats & Ponies
Scratch the Alpaca's, see the Emus and their new chicks. Check out the cheeky meerkats as well as the Small animal barn where you can pet and groom some of the Bunnies and Guinea Pigs. See the ducks waddling around, check out the chickens, turkey and cockerel. Enjoy both our outdoor play areas, the Beach area with sand pits & swings, or the Farmyard fit area with monkey bars, climbing frames and climbing course. Hospitality
Sit back and relax outside the snack baa\\* on the picnic tables or check out our fantastic classic lunch menu in the Farmyard cafe. or bring your own lunch and grab a picnic table outside in our designated spaces. (*peak times only)

PLEASE NOTE: The farm is open until 5pm, so you can stay as long as you like.

The sun is out and it feels like a lovely day here on the farm,
& our work experience teams from the surrounding colleges are working hard in the sun supporting the farm.

Due to the current conditions, our carpark and key parts of the farm have large amounts of black ice. Therefore, we have decided to close the farm this weekend (the 11th & 12th of January) as temperatures look to remain very cold until Monday

We know this is not ideal, but we do not wish to put our visitors, staff or animals at risk.

We will contact pre-paid customers individually.

DEAR TEACHERS - SCHOOL TRIPS 2025 - TERM TIME
School trips are from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00p.m, Tuesday to Friday in TERM TIME ONLY, between March and September every year.


2025 dates are already being booked up fast:
(closed mondays) - if you wish to secure a spot get in touch via Email: [email protected]
to book a place.

New for 2025!
We are offering sandwich boxes for the children, minimum order 12 boxes. They are £5 each & include sandwiches (choose from ham, jam, cheese & tuna), a packet of crisps, chocolate role & a piece of fruit.
A dilute juice is also included, or you can upgrade to a fruit shoot for 50p extra per child.
We can provide risk assessments but recommend you do your own risk assessment for the farm and outdoor playground.
We take up to 60 children at a time and if there are over 30 they are split into groups with one group going around the animals while the other group are in the outdoor playground.
Teachers and carers are free. We allow 1 teacher or carer in free per 4 children.
We can work around curriculum’s and organise demonstrations and/or activities depending on the time of year. A non-refundable £20 deposit is required to secure the booking.

Our Story

Welcome to Swithens Farm!

We are an independent family run business and our farm has been in our family for over 60 years. Opening our doors to the public we wanted to share with you our love for our animals, produce, and give our knowledgeable insight, all whilst promoting the family atmosphere that the farming environment offers… making it the prime location for families to enjoy their day out.

Here you can meet our more than just our farm yard animals, we have many friends such as Meerkats, Emus, Donkeys and more! The rare opportunity to get up close and personal is waiting for you here at our farm, an experience that is not so easy to find anymore. From lamb feeding to tractor rides – it’s here! We try our very best to offer educational value to your visit, in which we have many School Trips visit to learn about the farm life and the animals, especially how the food they eat ends up on their plates.
