Meet Poppy - just 9 weeks old but already one of our bravest little visitors! 🐶💪

This sweet girl came to our Sandal Practice for her very first vaccination with our vet, Kamila. She was such a good girl 💖, sitting patiently while we weighed her to make sure she got the perfect dose of flea treatment 🩺🐛.

While waiting in reception, Poppy charmed everyone with her adorable puppy eyes, 🥺 soaking up all the attention, cuddles, and fuss from our team. 🥰 We’re so thrilled to be part of her journey and can’t wait to watch her grow! 🌱🐾

Say hello to Barney! 💛🐕

Young Barney, only 4-years-old, was referred to our Rehabilitation Centre to rehabilitate a chronic iliopsoas muscle injury. ❤️‍🩹

He currently visits us for veterinary physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to help mobilise his hips and strengthen his core to help his muscle injury recovery 💪🏻🌊. His owners do an excellent job with his exercises in between sessions at home. Here he is showing off one of his physiotherapy exercises in our clinic 🤸🏼‍♀️. Prompted by treats of course! 😋

🐶 This is Mabel, who visited our Mirfield practice recently after her owner noticed she was feeling a little under the weather. After further investigation, we found Mabel had a solid mass in her bladder.

Our Mirfield team discussed all options and outcomes in depth with Mabel's owner and decided the best course of action would be to perform a Cystotomy.

This fantastic team successfully removed the mass and are pleased to say Mabel is feeling much brighter now. 💖

🐾 Puppy Alert! 🐾

We had a 'paw-some' day at our Sandal practice recently with these adorable Labrador puppies who came in for their very first vaccinations and microchipping! 🐶💉

Their tails were wagging, and they were as cute as can be - though they might have been more interested in making friends than getting their jabs and microchip! 😄💕

Say hello to Merlin! 🐈‍👋

Thirteen-year-old Merlin, was referred to our Rehabilitation Centre to help manage his osteoarthritis, particularly for his painful hips and lower back. He currently visits us for weekly laser sessions, to help with reducing pain and inflammation in his sore areas ⚡️. He is a little super star who happily lays down patiently whilst our Veterinary Physiotherapists treat him ⭐️ (he loves it even more when he gets a chin scratch at the same time 😻!). We have also managed to include a gentle home exercise and management plan for Merlin. You may also notice he has a little sore on his nose which is from his allergies, which he also visits our veterinary surgeons to help manage ❤️‍🩹.

November is Pet Diabetes Month, and today is World Diabetes Day! 🐾💙

Did you know there are several signs of diabetes mellitus in dogs and cats? Look out for these symptoms:

🐶 Excessive thirst
🐱 Increased urination
🐶 Inappropriate urination
🐱 Weight loss
🐶 Increased appetite
🐱 Cataracts
🐶 Weakness
🐱 Lethargy
🐶 Poor skin condition

Pet obesity is a rising concern in the UK, and it often goes hand-in-hand with diabetes. Our team offers glucose testing through blood or urine samples to detect diabetes early. Additionally, our tests can check for elevated liver enzymes and electrolyte imbalances—both of which can be indicators of diabetes.

🐶 Meet Milo, an 11-week-old Labrador Retriever and a member of our Pet Health for Life family who recently visited our Dewsbury hospital for his second vaccination and some in-house lab tests due to some irritation in his ears. 👂

Preventative vaccinations are crucial for protecting your puppy against common infectious diseases. Addressing any health concerns early, like Milo's irritated ears, ensures they stay happy and healthy.
