🌅 Sunday Mornings & Puppies… Help! 🐶☕

I won’t lie—getting a Taz has been a shock to my system, she may have been here a year but it not getting any easier. Taz thinks 6:30 AM on a Sunday is the perfect time to start the day… I, however, do not agree! 😅

This morning, I left Ian in bed and faced the challenge—how do I keep this little whirlwind quiet for a while? Spoiler: not an easy task!

That’s when I remembered my Toppl! These are similar to a Kong but much easier for pups (and dogs!) to enjoy. The wider opening means they can get a reward quickly while still working for the rest.

And let me tell you… I have no idea why I do think of this more often! Taz had her breakfast and a mental workout at the same time, and I had a whole hour of peace—no barking, no zoomies, just calm. 🙌

Today’s filling was simple: her usual mince stuffed in with a couple of sprats served defrosted. Nothing fancy, but it did the trick! Next time, I’ll get more creative (and try to remember a picture… but in my defence, it was very early! 😂).

💤 Hard at Work… Sort Of! 🐶

Another long, exhausting day at Storm’s Raw Emporium for Taz… as you can see, it’s absolutely non-stop! 🤣

Greeting customers, supervising stock levels, and quality control on treats—it’s all just so tiring! Of course, she’s found the warmest spot in the shop to recharge. 🔥

🏕️ Taz’s First Camping Trip of the Year! 🐾

The van is packed, and we’re off on our first adventure of the year! But, of course, Taz has more stuff than the humans… because priorities! 😆

Her essential camping list includes:
✔️ Tuggy
✔️ Treats (lots, obviously!)
✔️ Food
✔️ Bowl
✔️ Teddy bear (a must!)
✔️ Comfy bed
✔️ Her very own first-aid kit
✔️ Lead and harness
✔️ Long-lasting chews
✔️ Coat & spare coats (because one is never enough when it’s this cold!)
✔️ … And, according to mummy, a long line because "recall isn’t optional, Taz!" 🤦‍♀️

Oh, and let’s not forget the kitchen sink—because clearly, she needs everything just in case! 😂

The snow has been causing havoc over the last few days, making it tricky to get out and about. At this time of year, it’s so important to be prepared for the unexpected!

The heavy snow has made some roads and areas just unsafe to drive to. We have therefore decided it's better to me safe and not sorry, and some delivery will not take place today.

Whilst the main roads are not too bad the side roads are just dangerous.

Hi Everyone, ❄️⛄

As the weather takes a frosty turn, we often focus on keeping our dogs safe in the heat, but cold temperatures can be just as challenging. Let’s talk about keeping our dogs warm and safe during the chilly months.

🛠️ Myth-Busting

🐶 "Dogs have fur coats, so they don’t get cold."
This is a MYTH! 🚫 Dogs can absolutely get cold, and like us, they are at risk of hypothermia. Each dog is unique and reacts differently to the cold, depending on factors like their coat type, size, and overall health.

🔍 Example from My Household

Myst, the border collie, has a thick, fluffy double coat and thrives in cooler weather. Clothes? She wouldn’t be caught wearing them!

Taz, the lurcher, has a thin, single coat and absolutely hates the cold. She becomes restless, running around and jumping in an attempt to warm up—though that rarely works! She’s a fan of cozy jumpers and even has her own wardrobe to suit various temperatures.

✌️ Tips to Keep Your Dog Warm

1. 🎮 Rethink Daily Walks

Just like in extreme heat, it’s okay to skip a walk in freezing weather. Keep them entertained indoors with:

🦝 Brain games

🕵️‍♂️ Nose work activities

🎮 Puzzle toys

2. 🍵 Warm Drinks for Dogs

We love a hot drink to warm up—dogs can enjoy this too! While caffeine is off-limits, there are safe, warming options:

🧴 Bone broth: Nutritious, joint-friendly, and comforting.

🌼 Chamomile tea: A calming choice.

🍵 Peppermint tea: Gentle on tummies and refreshing.

3. 🫁 Dry Damp Fur

If your dog gets wet, dry them thoroughly before settling them down. Damp fur can make it harder for them to retain body heat.

4. 🌟 Layer Up

Some dogs benefit from extra layers like jumpers or coats. We have a small range in stock if you think your pup could use one.
