Sharing this because I truly believe it needs to be more well known! You hear all about hip dysplasia being common in German Shepherds, but it's not very often that you hear about this.

Tara was diagnosed with this at the age of 12 - after a year of not being sure what was happening to her. I'd never heard of it prior to her diagnosis, and I truly believe that all German Shepherd owners should be aware of the signs to look out for. I wouldn't want anybody to be as frightened as we were when she started displaying the symptoms, with no idea of what was causing them ❤️

Contrary to the article, Tara went on to have another two and a half years with us, and she probably would have lived up until the age of 15, but it's an informational read if you've never heard of Degenerative Myelopathy.
