Is novelty stimulating for dogs? 👀🐾
Absolutely — and it’s one of the most powerful ways to build confidence.

Dogs live in a human-designed world full of things that don’t naturally exist in “dog life”: vacuum cleaners, odd textures, unfamiliar objects, strange movements, new sounds… even a simple brush on the floor can be a whole new puzzle.

Because of that, novelty naturally activates curiosity, problem-solving and exploration. For many dogs — especially sensitive or nervous ones — gentle, controlled novelty can:

✨ Build resilience
✨ Reduce fear of new situations
✨ Encourage calm investigation
✨ Strengthen independence
✨ Boost overall confidence

When your dog investigates something new at their own pace, their brain gets a “confidence reward” — I handled that!
Over time, these tiny wins stack up massively.

So yes… novelty isn’t just stimulating. It’s incredibly healthy when done safely and positively. Let them sniff, tap, paw and explore!

Nature vs Nurture ?

I think its a combination of both, but what do you think ?

Does this count as loose lead walking? 👀🐶
(Lead is slack, dog is slightly ahead)

Short answer: YES.
Loose lead walking simply means… the lead is loose. That’s it. ✔️

Your dog doesn’t need to be glued to your side — that’s heel training, and that’s a completely separate skill.

For everyday walks?
If the lead is slack and your dog is within the length of that lead without pulling…
👉 You’re loose lead walking.

Most people put way too much pressure on themselves (and their dog) trying to keep them perfectly at their side. Giving them a bit more room actually makes walks calmer, easier and more enjoyable for both of you.

Loose lead. Happy handler. Happy dog. 💛

Most recall problems start long before you ever unclip the lead…
Because if your dog isn’t engaged with you, they won’t come back when it matters.

That’s why inside our Academy we teach:
• How to build real engagement so your dog actually wants to work with you
• Step-by-step recall training from foundation to off-lead reliability
• Games and routines that make you more rewarding than the environment

If you want a dog who chooses you over distractions, the Academy has everything you need — all in one place.

Does your dog lose their mind when guests come over?
Here are 5 quick-fire steps to make visits calmer and easier for everyone 👇🐶✨

1️⃣ Fulfil their daily needs – exercise, enrichment, routine
2️⃣ Calm the entrance – have guests ignore your dog or pop them on a lead
3️⃣ Train clear behaviours – “bed,” “quiet,” or another simple job
4️⃣ One handler only – too many voices = confusion
5️⃣ Use timeouts when needed – they keep you calm and help your dog reset

Does your dog struggle to settle unless you’re right there with them?

The truth is… most dogs don’t need “more company” — they need more practice being calm without constant access to you.

Independence isn’t built by leaving them alone straight away.
It starts with something much simpler:

Being in the same house as you… but not with you.

Short sessions behind a baby gate, in a pen, or just in another room with something to do.
You’re nearby, they’re safe, and you’re teaching the exact skill they’re missing —
how to relax without leaning on you for constant reassurance.

Master this step and everything else becomes easier:
settling, separation, visitors, crate training… all of it.

If you want the full, step-by-step plan to build true independence, our Separation Training Course inside the Academy walks you through exactly what to do.

✨ Struggling with barking, reactivity, whining, or a dog who just can’t settle?
You might not need more training… your dog might just need a better routine.

Here’s the truth:
Most behaviour problems come from uncertainty, boredom, and lack of structure — not “stubbornness”.
When your dog can predict their day, understand what’s coming next, and get their needs met in the right way…
👉 Their behaviour transforms.
👉 They relax.
👉 And training finally starts to stick.

In our house?
We focus on calm structure, simple daily habits, and confidence-building games.
And the difference? Night and day. 🌙✨

If you want to start creating calmer, happier, easier days with your dog…
