We have had a big week this week - we have had 2 certificate collections, 2 new starters and a fast track starter!! Huge congratulations to for completing your iPET Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Dog Grooming qualification and for completing your iPET Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming & Salon Management

So much hard work and determination goes into becoming a qualified groomer - huge congratulations to each of these signing up and completing their courses!

Grooming with no “official” qualification?? We can help!

If you have 1 years experience in the grooming industry you could qualify for our fast track course! We are currently offering this at £1500 instead of £2000. The studying is done remotely at your own pace, you will have 3 days training included with Gemma and the Canine First Aid course as well!

We can also offer this in monthly instalments spread across 20months - making it less than £80 a month to receive that “qualified” status.

We are taking the opportunity with this post to showcase how hard our students are working at the minute!

We currently have 5 students working their way through the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming & Salon Management. They are on different days ranging from day 4 through to day 13 but they are all very passionate and currently either having a complete career change or adding to their already excising pet business! So proud of them all!

Can I get your attention please? 👂 🐶

Thought Mavis’ stupid ears might get your attention 🤣. We are looking for dogs that are ok with the grooming process, don’t mind lots of attention and would like 40% off their groom?

We have 5 students currently working their way to achieving the iPET diploma and we need model dogs for them to groom! Any breed or crossbreed and any style! They will be with us from 9-2ish for full grooms or 2.30/3pm for a bath/tidy or bath/de-shed and will have a break with lots of attention during their time with us.

Spaces are on Tues/weds/thurs - any breed is accepted with a massive 40% saving! You could even use this opportunity to give them an “in between groom” during this horrid weather and save you bathing them!

**First Aid Course Dates**

The iPET first aid course has had an overhaul and we have had some critical updates and changes in line with current first aid guidelines. This course is ideal for pet professionals and/or pet owners! The bandaging, CPR and heatstroke skills you will learn on this course could be lifesaving for not only your own pet but could also help a friend, family member or another dog owner.

We can offer the course as certified for pet professionals - this is the only regulated first aid course out there currently. Or we have the option to offer this cheaper if you don’t need the iPET certification - this option is ideal if you are doing this for your own personal learning.

✂️🐾 Seminar Tickets! 🐾✂️

We posted a few weeks ago about the amazing Cass from coming to to host her very first seminar - Everyday Grooms with Asian Flair!
We are so excited to host this fantastic day at our academy, and hope you will join us.

Cass has been grooming for 5 years, been competing for 3 years and has won multiple awards in 1st 2nd and 3rd places in Asian and workshop and went on to win her first RBIS in Ireland.
She has also won 1st places in creative grooming and model dogs winning creative groomer of the year 2022! As a judge at the creative British championships and master groom, who better to learn from!

The day will run all day on Sunday 8th October, with lunch and refreshments provided. The seminar will involve two demonstration grooms on different dogs, with opportunity to ask questions and get tips about adding Asian fusion flair to your grooms in the salon.

!!Model dogs required!!

As you know we have closed our books for the salon grooming - student grooms are also busy but we have spaces for new clients if they are ok being groomed and don’t find the process too stressful or challenging! We will take any breed - small or big especially short coats like frenchies, labs, pugs or bath/tidy appointments to keep those coats well maintained we can do an interim bath, brush and tidy! All grooms are supervised and directed by Gemma and you receive 40% off your groom price! We just need the dogs in a little longer than normal but the dogs have playtime, time to refresh and lots of attention! These appointments are tues/weds/thurs.

Today Shampoochies - Leicester met the Leicestershire Police: Dogs section for the IPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine Emergency First Aid. We had an amazing day talking through CPR, Bandaging, Shock, Burns and a canine’s vitals along with many other topics to assist in first aid. The skills taught in the session today could assist in saving the lives of the amazing dogs that these people work and train with daily! Thank you for having us and looking forward to future sessions with you!

Last minute availability for iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid Sunday 2nd Oct.….

Due to a couple of last minute cancellations we have some availability for anyone in the pet industry to attend our First Aid course - it’s the only regulated course on the market. We only have 2 more dates available this year with this being one of them. The course is ran from 9am until 2/3pm and the cost is £130.

Did you know we offer a fast track to the Diploma in Dog Grooming & Salon Management course to anyone that’s already been full time grooming but maybe did an adhoc/non regulated course when they first started and now wish to become qualified….

Today we had Emily join us who is currently doing the fast track course (everything is done remotely) but included in the course is 3 days training that can be tailored to suit your areas for improvement? Emily chose to look more at angulation and fluffy legs and heads - just perfecting small areas and building on the vast amount of knowledge she already has will take her grooms up a step! 3 Cockapoos completed today and all beautiful but we forgot the photos on 1 of them! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Super proud of this assessment today that 1 of our students Ellie completed (and obviously passed) not only is this assessment earlier in the course than I normally book them but it’s also 1 of the most challenging as Gus isn’t keen on his nails or his front legs being brushed if there are knots and he’s in full Westie trim. Ellie managed his behaviour really well and trimmed him to a very high standard! This is an excellent groom for someone that’s been grooming years let alone just over 20 days - couple bits to work on but nothing major at all! Can we all show some love to the handsome Gus and Ellie for passing her first assessment!

Dog grooming is a completely unregulated industry which leaves the door wide open for anyone to start grooming knowing very little and much to be desired. The students at Shampoochies have not taken short cuts or done cheaper courses that are often available - each of our students has invested money and time into their career to get the best start they can and become qualified to a level 3 standard and it really shows!

I do love seeing the faces of students going through their kit on the first day! As the current students are nearing the end of their courses they are doing their assessments - they have 3 practical assessments to do each. I always try to include a poodle cross as they are the most common mix we get in.

It is always the most challenging assessment to do for the students in terms of timing (as they have a set time to complete it) and skill level!

Katie with Buddy the Sproodle (Springer x Poodle) and Adara with Ginny the Cockapoo (Cocker x Poodle) both smashed their assessments this week!

They have completed 26 and 27 days training - prior to this they had never picked up a pair of clippers or grooming scissors - as a tutor it’s incredible to stand back and see just how far they have come since day 1! Well done ladies - you have put everything into this and it’s really showing! Please join me in congratulating them both!

Cute as a button! Gorgeous Skye came for her Handstrip at the academy with 2 of our students who are just building up their knowledge of handstripping! Skye was a fantastic little model and her favourite part of the day was definitely lunchtime!

Albi the Lhasapoo was groomed by Michael! Michael have passed his first assessment this week! He’s done amazing and I’m a very proud tutor!

Arlo the Lhasa and Bramley the Cockapoo was groomed by Heidi! Both of these dogs were fantastic models and Heidi groomed them brilliantly! Heidi is only halfway through her course!

Hamza the Pomeranian was groomed by Royce! Hamza was a little naughty being brushed out and having his feet done but Royce was not phased and created this beautiful hand scissor all over this gorgeous boy! Royce has her assessments next week and I have no doubt she will pass with flying colours!
