First time introducing higher hides to Etta this evening. It's all about the T-Rex ridiculous indication π€£
Luring is great, it can create clear communication between you and your dog and help teach them even the most complex behaviours.
However, we also need to be aware of times that luring MAY cause conflict in our dogs. Allowing them to choose to offer you behaviours (such as exploration of a potentially scary thing) and THEN to be rewarded is a really great way to increase confidence.
This is a concept we looked at a little last night in my "Trick Of Obedience" workshop β€οΈ
This morning a few of us gathered together for some scentwork training and tested out a new venue, which will be suitable for Foundation and Pre Entry trials next year.
We set some difficult hides and the dogs nailed it. πͺπΎ
Last night, we braved the snow and managed to get to Evenjobb for a loose lead walking workshop.
The dogs learnt about the key foundations that need to be in place before they started walking, then the skills they need to progress, then finally putting it together with duration and distractions.
Homework is set, I hope to hear how they all get on during their winter training! Well done guys!!!
