I sure did take my time getting around to posting again but I am pleased to announce that my collar/lead combo is finally up on Etsy for my retro repurposed fabric. Waheeeey!
I had someone request a lead a couple of weeks ago and they unfortunately never got back to me but it did spur me on to finally make one so here we go! I have to say I’m even going to keep one for myself because they look so good!!!!

Part 5 of my dog breed facts series, this week we have the German Shepherd!

1. German Shepherds are ranked third in terms of intelligence and obedience, just losing out to the Border Collie and the Poodle.

2. They’re known as a mouthy breed because their noses and mouths are almost like an extra appendage.

3. They’re known for their bomb and drug sniffing work and are often employed as police dogs.

4. German Shepherds were the first guide dog breed.

5. They were originally used for shepherding…hence “shepherd”.

6. German Shepherds have also been known as “Alsatians” and “Shepherd Dogs”. This is because people tried to avoid referencing Germany after the First World War.

7. “German Shepherd” is now the international standard name for the breed once again.

Part 4 of my dog breed facts series. Today we have the…
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 🐶

1. The names Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and King Charles Spaniel can’t be used interchangeably. They have both been individually recognised breeds since the 1920s.

2. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bred to be more similar to the King Charles Spaniels that were owned by King Charles I and II.

3. King Charles II was such a fan of the breed that he decreed that they should be allowed in any public space including the Houses of Parliament.

4. There are four colour varieties - the Blenheim, the Ruby, the Tricolour and the Black and Tan.

5. They’re often used as therapy dogs because of their calm nature.

6. They can and will sprint at great speeds after small creatures due to their hunting instincts.

7. They have long coats and will shed hair all year round but especially during the spring and autumn months.

Part 3 of my dog breed facts. Today we have the…
Chinese Crested 🐶

1. The Chinese Crested gets a lot of flak for being ugly, whilst this isn’t always the case, many winners of the “World’s Ugliest Dog Contest” have been Chinese Crested dogs.

2. There are two varieties, the “Powderpuff” which is a long haired dog and the “hairless”. The hairless dogs can be prone to a lot of skin issues like acne and they can also get sunburned.

3. They are thought to have been descendants of the now extinct “African Hairless Dog” and were brought to China by sailors using them to catch rats on the ship to prevent the plague.

4. The breed became popular because of the burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee who loved them so much that she became a breeder and a lot of today’s Chinese Crested Dogs can be traced back to her lines.

5. You may also recognise them from “A New York Minute” with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”.

It’s official, this weekend I made my first Etsy sale!
This is very exciting for me as I was starting to doubt myself, even though I know once I set my mind to something I can achieve it. I’m so grateful to my first customer and I’m excited for many more to come!

Part 2 of my dog breed facts. Today we have the…
Siberian Husky 🐺

1. Believe it or not, Siberian Huskies actually did originate from Siberia.

2. They were bred by the Chukchi People to be the ultimate sled dogs.

3. The Chukchi People believed that two Siberian Huskies guarded the gates to heaven and wouldn’t allow anyone that had been cruel to a dog in their lifetime, in.

4. Siberian Huskies are a very friendly breed. Some even say that they would be more likely to help a burglar rob your house than to stop one.

5. They don’t bark a lot but they are very vocal and like to sing. Their howls can be heard over great distances.

6. It is common for them to have blue eyes but also common for them to have heterochromia which is where your eyes are two different colours.

Isn’t this fabric lovely?!
It was given to me to by my Aunt to cover furniture in a doll house I was constructing for my 8 year old cousin. I don’t have a lot left over but what I do have has gone into making a range of pet accessories like the collar and bandana in this picture.
All of the fabric I use has been repurposed, (hence the name Repawposed) to bring a new life to otherwise unused fabrics. If you’re interested in repurposed/recycled fashion, why not extend that interest to your pets and their accessories?
Whilst I have a limited selection on my Etsy shop so far, more is on the way, including bandanas and bows that are coming very soon.

I have spun a wheel to find which dog breeds to present facts on and the first up is …🥁🥁🥁

The Boston Terrier

1. The Boston Terriers came about in the late 1800s when a Bulldog and a White Terrier were bred.

2. As the name suggests, Boston Terriers originated in, and are the official state breed of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States.

3. They are one of the few true All-American breeds and are often known as the “American Gentleman” because of their charming demeanour and their tuxedo-like coat.

4. Boston Terriers are very loving and easy to train meaning they’re often recommended as a breed to have if you want to get into dog agility training.

5. They love to play and are great at fetch.

6. They are a brachycephalic breed, which means that they have very short snouts and can overheat quickly, especially in hot weather.

7. They are very cute 🐶
